Mrs. Bush's Barnard Broadcaster "Each person, each day, learning and caring in every way."

Dear Families,

It feels good to have completed a week of four full days of learning with a full five day week to look forward to next! I have many favorite times of day from greeting kids at morning arrival, to chatting with them at lunch, mixed with getting to know them at recess, and then seeing their smiling faces at dismissal after a great day. However, I have to say that one of the best times of day is walking the building and visiting the classrooms to see and hear learning come alive in their eyes and in their voices.

Classrooms were filled this week with conversations about stories they were planning to write, math discussions about numbers and patterns, shared learning about countries and their flags, and of course songs and poems about their names. This doesn't even begin to capture half of the experiences teachers are creating for their students, so I hope the pictures below will give you another glimpse into their days. I have been so pleased to see how our returning Barnard Blue Jays have started out the year demonstrating our Barnard promises to "Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Build Positive Relationships." Your children are remarkable and we can't thank you enough for sharing them with all of us. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you back on Monday!

Today, PTO launched our Fun Run Fundraiser with classrooms sending home packets with all the information you need to start fundraising. They have some super fun incentives built in this year to keep kids motivated in their fundraising. Thank you in advance for your help with this initiative as it is our annual fundraiser to raise money for classroom materials, in school experiences, field trips and so much more! On Friday, September 29th, families are invited to come and cheer on the kids as they run. A schedule of events will be released soon.

Thank you to everyone for you conscientious help with arrival and dismissal by following all rules for pick up and drop off, especially in the car loop. Staying in your car and pulling all the way up has made a huge difference in helping with traffic flow. Please know that I have been in constant communication with transportation about late busses both in the morning and the afternoon. We have had some better days and I am hopeful that as drivers become more comfortable with their routes that timing will continue to improve. Rest assured that we will stay on it until it is resolved.

Want to stay connected throughout the week and see pictures of your children in action here at school, please follow me on Instagram @MrsBushTSD.

I hope to see everyone at our events across the week from the PTO Meeting, to Curriculum Night and ending with Constitution Day. Please continue to come up and introduce yourself or reintroduce yourself to me as I am dedicated to continuing to learn all the families. Now that I have been in school a couple of weeks with your children, I look forward to putting parent and child faces together.

Have a wonderful weekend with your families!

Warmly,

Mrs. Bush

Birthday Celebration Policy

Celebrating Birthdays: We want to continue to celebrate and recognize birthdays of our students as we know they are important events for children of all ages. However; more and more of our students have dietary restrictions including food intolerance, food allergies, and other dietary limitations. As a public school, we have an obligation to be as inclusive as possible while meeting the needs of all children. Therefore, in the spirit of healthy eating and inclusion, we are asking that you do not send in food treats as part of your child’s birthday celebration at school. Each teacher will continue to celebrate and recognize the students’ birthdays in the classroom as we have always done in the past. We appreciate your support!
