As another school year ends, I would like to thank every member of our school community for a wonderful year. Our children have a brilliant attitude to school and work with determination and I couldn’t be prouder of them. Their desire to learn new things and have fun is superb and every day I look forward to coming to work and seeing their smiling faces; they really are a credit to you all. I would also like to thank you all for your ongoing support. Our young people can only excel with the ongoing help and encouragement from home and school working together: all the staff are exceptionally grateful to you and we hope you have a wonderful summer break.
Today also marks a special point in some of our children’s lives as their journey at Regent Farm has come to an end. I would like to wish the children who are moving on to a new school next year all the very best for the future. Year 4, you are all absolute superstars and I wish you lots of success in Middle School. We will miss you and hope you all keep in touch.
As you know from our previous letter, we also bid farewell to some of our staff this week. Mrs Pack and Miss Cook will be missed at school next year and we wish them lots of luck as they start new chapters of their lives.

Summer Holiday Activities
The summer holiday can be a difficult time for families, both keeping children busy and with costs. Newcastle have organised lots of activities through the 'Newcastle's Best Holiday Ever' and details can be found at the website below.
Children and Families Newcastle have also organised a selection of activities and events from films, crafts, sports, music festivals and family cooking festivals and don't forget children up to the age of 11 can travel for free on the metro and bus with a paying adult.
Summer Reading Challenge
This year's Summer Reading Challenge is Story Garden! It is so important to keep children reading across the summer so we would encourage everyone to take part. The children have had an assembly all about the reading challenge with our local librarian so can tell you all about it!
To take part in the challenge you just need to join your local library (the nearest to here is the Gosforth Library), then collect stickers by taking part in creative challenges such as reading, crafting and workshops. Earn five stickers to get a certificate and seven stickers for a chance to win one of our amazing prizes, which include Lego, art sets and show tickets!
There are also lots of free events which can be booked using the link below. These include author workshops, camp fire stories and illustration sessions.
Meadows Pharmacy
Meadows Pharmacy is a new NHS pharmacy in our local area and they would like to let you know how they can support our school community — including students, families, and staff — through a growing range of free NHS services.
Trained pharmacists can now offer consultation and prescription treatments without needing a GP appointment for several common health issues. This can make it easier for families to access care quickly, reducing time off school and stress for parents.
They can help with:
- Sinusitis (ages 12+)
- Sore Throat (ages 5+)
- Earache (ages 1–17)
- Infected Insect Bites (ages 1+)
- Impetigo (ages 1+)
- Shingles (ages 18+)
- Urinary Tract Infections (women aged 16–64)
For other minor illnesses, we can offer support through the Think Pharmacy First scheme. If a child needs further medical attention, we’ll always advise families to see their GP.
They also offer the following services that may benefit adults
- Free Blood Pressure Checks
- Smoking Cessation Support (including free nicotine replacement)
- Emergency and Routine Contraception
- New Medicine Support (for those starting long-term medication)
- Free Prescription Delivery (including same-day for urgent items)
Summer Fayre
A huge thank you to all everyone who came to our summer fayre this month, and for the amazing cake donations, we are very grateful.
We raised £2300 over the afternoon. This money is being used to purchase new books for the children to enjoy in their classrooms and the school library.
I would also like to apologise again for the lack of rides, we were just as disappointed as you that Richardson Amusements failed to turn up to our school event. We will be looking at alternative providers for next year.

Termly Curriculum Update
Early Years
This term nursery have explored all things mini (and mega!) beast. They began with a visit from the Bug Man, where the children were brave enough to hold and touch some of the amazing creatures. They have visited bee school, helped a tiny ladybird catch 2 bad men, competed in the frog Olympics and tasted what a very hungry caterpillar likes to eat! To round off our mini beast topic, the children also took a trip to Kirkley Hall to visit some extraordinary animals. The children ended this term with a garden party, where they performed their favourite songs from this amazing school year.
This term in Reception, the children have looked at how they can keep their bodies healthy inside and out. The term began with a walk down the Funny Bones Street. They learnt all about how their body moves and even learnt a song! The children then focused on what they need to put into their bodies to keep them healthy and made some yummy, scrummy milkshakes. The highlight of the half term was a fantastic visit to Broxfield Farm. Farmer Thompson taught everyone all about life on the farm and they even had a fantastic tractor ride. As the term comes to an end, we are preparing the children for their transition up to Year 1 by reflecting on our year in Reception, the skills we have learnt and the memories we have made.
Key Stage 1
Key Stage 1 have been thinking about what it means to be healthy inside and out and have been exploring this in different ways.
They children have read a range of texts that helped them learn how to take care of their bodies, from protecting teeth and skin to looking after their mental wellbeing. Year 1 especially enjoyed writing their own instructions for making healthy smoothies. Tasting them was a real highlight, so much so that some of the children went back for seconds (and even thirds)! In Science, they've been exploring the natural world by identifying different plants and trees in the school grounds and during their visit to the Winter Gardens in Sunderland. The children loved being nature detectives and spotting all the different types of leaves and bark. In Geography, the Continents Song has become a classroom favourite! Year 1 have been busy 'travelling' the world, learning about the animals that live on each continent, and exploring the iconic human and physical features found in each destination. Their enthusiasm has been amazing as they've journeyed from the icy landscapes of Antarctica to the bustling cities of Asia!
Year 2 have had a fantastic half term thinking about how they can keep themselves healthy on the inside and out. In D.T they have been looking at a balanced diet and designed and created a healthy wrap. They loved tasting the different foods with Michelle from Asda. In History they have loved looking at the lives of the significant nurses Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell. Considering the obstacles they overcame and the changes they have made to what nursing looks like today. A highlight of this half term was watching the caterpillars grow and change into butterflies and creating a non-fiction book about them. They then undertook a survey to work out the best place to release the butterflies in the school grounds.
Key Stage 2
In Year 3, the children had an amazing time at the "Voices in Colour" concert at the Northern Stage, organised by Music Partnership North Newcastle/Newcastle Sings. The event featured performances by children from all over Newcastle, who sang about the Zones of Regulation to promote positive mental health. The children have been carrying out observational studies in Science. They have been investigating the effect that the quantity of seeds has on a plant’s growth. In Geography, the children showed great team work to find out where daisies, clover and dandelions grow best in our school grounds. They made observations, counted how many of each were in the quadrant, and then discussed the physical features and their findings with their friends. As part of the Spanish curriculum, the children have been learning about foods and flavours and how to express their opinions about particular foods. We will be finishing the term creating non fiction books about the Olympics on the iPads.
This term has been packed with exciting activities and memorable experiences for year 4! Their trip to Woodhorn Colliery gave the children a fascinating insight into the rich history of mining and what life was like for miners in the past. During Sports week, they took part in a wide range of activities and it was wonderful to welcome our families to join in the fun on Family Fun Day. The children also had the opportunity to visit their new schools, helping them to feel more confident and excited about the next step in their school journey.
The Year 4 children have also been busy practising their end of year play which they thoroughly enjoyed performing for the school this morning and are eager to perform for their parents shortly. In class they've been making memory bears as part of the DT curriculum. The children have been putting their sewing skills to the test to create their stuffed teddy bear which is wearing the school logo. We were all very impressed with their determination and resilience as this was a challenging task! The children will get to take these home as their time at Regent Farm comes to an end. Hopefully it will remind them of all of wonderful memories at Regent Farm over the years.
