Chicago, Illinois - The Walsh Group was proud to celebrate Women in Construction Week during March 2–6, recognizing the women whose leadership and expertise strengthen both our company and the construction industry. This year’s theme, “A Strong Foundation Builds Legacy,” highlights the resilience, innovation, and collaboration that women bring to our projects, teams, and communities. Across jobsites and offices, Women in Construction Week banners were displayed to honor the important influence of women in roles ranging from skilled trades and safety to project management, quality, administration, and executive leadership. Their contributions help drive the impact that Walsh Construction and Archer Western are making across the building, transportation, and water markets; delivering complex infrastructure that supports communities nationwide. As one of the largest contractors in the United States, The Walsh Group remains committed to creating meaningful pathways for women in construction. We honor the women who built the foundations before us, celebrate those leading today, and continue empowering the next generation of builders.

Ohio State's new University Hospital officially opens to patient care

Columbus, Ohio - The new University Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has opened to patient care; moving 425 patients into large, private rooms. This is truly an inspiring milestone for the entire project team who helped bring this transformational facility to life. Seeing the hospital officially open and welcoming patients is especially meaningful for everyone involved. Years of coordination and hard work from the Walsh Construction and Turner Construction Company team, along with outfitting and transition planning from Walsh Logistics, have created a fully functioning, state‑of‑the‑art environment designed to support exceptional patient care. The 1.9‑million‑square‑foot, 26‑story hospital, the largest single‑facility construction project in Ohio State’s history and the largest single‑facility hospital to open in the U.S. in 2026, was built with a strong focus on patient comfort and experience. It features modern technology, abundant natural light, spacious private rooms, 24/7 dining access and family‑friendly spaces throughout. Care offerings span a wide range of specialties, including surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, critical care and adult organ transplants. Highlights include 24 operating rooms, 10 interventional radiology suites, 234 ICU beds, the region’s only Level 4 maternity care hospital and 148 additional beds for patients of The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. Each 349‑square‑foot patient room features 9‑foot windows and a 75‑inch digital screen that provides access to care information, telehealth, education and entertainment.

Rebuilding Providence's Washington Bridge

Providence, Rhode Island - Construction-related activities continue on the Washington Bridge Rebuild Project with design, soil sampling, geographic surveying, permit applications and the ordering of materials. The project is also advancing with focused, technical work to identify and plan around the utilities that shape the entire rebuild. Walsh Construction and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation are thoroughly mapping existing water, sewer, communications, fiber‑optic, and telephone lines to determine which systems must be relocated to support future roadway and foundation work. These videos showcase the collaboration between Walsh Construction and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.

The project will enhance connectivity between Providence and East Providence, restoring efficient travel for commuters and supporting Rhode Island’s long-term transportation infrastructure needs while minimizing disruptions during construction. This bridge carries over 80,000 vehicles daily on I-195 Westbound, making it a critical transportation link.

Archer Western completes Santa Clara Creek Water Reclamation Facility expansion

Seguin, Texas - Archer Western joined Green Valley Special Utility District officials to celebrate the completed expansion of the Santa Clara Creek Water Reclamation Facility. The expansion project increases the plant's capacity from 0.25 MGD to 0.75 MGD to support the future growth in Northeast San Antonio and commitment to providing reliable, sustainable, clean water. The expansion includes the delivery of a new aerobic packaged wastewater treatment plan, pumping systems and a lift station which will work together to treat wastewater more efficiently, improving water quality and ensuring clean, safe water is returned to the environment. The plant also features a new electric utility feed, switchgear and emergency generator, a process treatment equipment, a new UV disinfection system and a new non-potable water system to provide wash water for plant operations.

Walsh Construction wins AGC Constructor Award for Hyperion AWPF delivery

San Francisco, California - The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California presented Walsh Construction with a Constructor Award at the 2026 Installation & Awards Gala, recognizing the project team's efforts and exceptional delivery of the Hyperion Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF). As the first major step in Los Angeles’ Pure Water initiative, this 1.5 million gallons-per-day facility transforms wastewater recycling, advancing the city’s goal of 100% reuse from the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant. Delivered under Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment’s first progressive design-build contract, the Walsh Construction and Brown and Caldwell team overcame space constraints, utility challenges, and pandemic disruptions while maintaining budget and safety excellence. Innovative solutions, including stacked equipment designs and early procurement of critical systems, ensured seamless integration within the constrained site.

Walsh Federal unveils new Air Traffic Control Tower at Webster Outlying Field

St. Inigoes, Maryland - Walsh Federal is proud to deliver the new air traffic control tower at Webster Outlying Field, part of Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland. The tower officially opened during a ribbon‑cutting ceremony earlier this month. The multimillion‑dollar facility provides modern technology, enhanced visibility, and updated operational capabilities to support the Navy’s research, development, test, and evaluation missions. The new tower replaces a decades‑old temporary structure and offers a more functional, spacious environment for air traffic control personnel. Personnel at Webster Outlying Field noted the importance of the upgrade for daily operations and the benefits it brings to controllers, technicians, and tenant squadrons. 

Walsh Construction completes 9th Floor Renovations at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital

Park Ridge, Illinois - Walsh Construction celebrated the completion of the 9th‑floor renovation at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, a major step in expanding the hospital’s medical/surgical inpatient capacity. The two‑phase project transformed an underutilized 9 West wing into a modern 22‑room patient care unit featuring IOS‑capable rooms, isolation rooms, upgraded systems, and a patient‑centered design. This renovation supports Advocate Lutheran General Hospital’s long‑term mission to meet growing community needs while enhancing the quality of care.

Archer Western breaks ground on Pecos Surface Water Treatment Plant

Chandler, Arizona - Construction is underway on critical upgrades at the Pecos Surface Water Treatment Plant. This major investment in the city’s water infrastructure will enhance the facility’s ability to deliver up to 60 MGD of high‑quality finished water. Archer Western and Hazen and Sawyer will deliver a new concrete granular activated carbon contactor, a new metal dewatering building for solids handling, upgrades to existing pumps for steadier recycle flows, and the potential addition of a chlorine dioxide treatment system to optimize summer water quality. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.

Cleburne Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Reuse Project wins 2025 Project of the Year

Cleburne, Texas - Archer Western is proud to announce that the Cleburne Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, delivered in partnership with Freese and Nichols, has been awarded the 2025 Project of the Year award by the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) North Texas Section, recognizing outstanding innovation, collaboration, and excellence in wastewater infrastructure. The project includes an increase in treatment capacity from 6.5 million galls per day (MGD) to 10.5 MGD with a new 4 million MGD reuse pump station and the city’s first indirect potable reuse system. The program combines wastewater treatment improvements with an indirect reuse system that protects the lake, expands capacity, and delivers long-term cost savings, positioning Cleburne for sustainable growth.

Walsh Federal breaks ground on Cape Canaveral Energy Test Facility

Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida - Walsh Federal joined the U.S. Navy and the Naval Ordnance Test Unit to break ground on the $166 million new Engineering Test Facility. This new facility will provide space for prototyping, development, testing, evaluation, and production of support equipment and flight hardware elements of Trident II D5 Life Extension 2, the next generation submarine-launched ballistic missile system. The 130,000-square-foot facility will include eight separate lab spaces, nine heavy-lift cranes, a backup generator, and administrative and other support spaces.

Main Road Segment A Improvements to enhance safety, capacity and travel options in Charleston County

Charleston, South Carolina - Overhead look at Segment A of the US 17 and Main Road Corridor Improvements Project in Charleston County being delivered by the Archer-United-Banks Joint Venture. This major infrastructure effort will provide a new interchange at US 17 and Main Road, widen the corridor to improve capacity, add a modern roundabout, construct new bridge structures, and introduce pedestrian and bicycle connections along with enhanced drainage systems to support safer, more resilient travel throughout the area. Segment A extends from Bees Ferry Road along Main Road across US 17 to the intersection of River Road and Chisolm Road. The design-build contract was awarded in 2024 to Archer Western-United-Banks Joint Venture, with construction beginning in early 2025 and substantial completion anticipated in late 2028. In addition to expanding vehicle capacity, the project incorporates a shared-use path across the Limehouse Bridge, an extension of the West Ashley Greenway to Bees Ferry Road, and coordinated right-of-way acquisition efforts currently underway to support phased delivery of these critical corridor improvements.

ASC Design-Build Competition sets stage for next generation of builders

Hurst, Texas - Archer Western was proud to sponsor the Associated Schools of Construction Region 5 Design-Build Competition, which brought together university construction management teams from across the south‑central United States. The event featured multiple divisions, including Design-Build, where Archer Western developed realistic project challenges and judging criteria for the design-build teams. Students worked under tight deadlines to produce complete proposals, estimates, schedules, and presentations, which mirrors the real-world construction environment. Congratulations to this year’s winners and to all who competed in this competition that strengthened everyone's technical and professional skills.

Last beams placed on final approach bridge for I-69 Ohio River Crossing

Evansville, Indiana - The final beams have now been set on the last approach bridge for Section 3 of the I‑69 Ohio River Crossing, marking another milestone for the Walsh Construction and Traylor Bros. joint venture. This phase of work included installing 180 prestressed, precast concrete beams, each measuring up to 188 feet in length and weighing as much as 100 tons, across the three Indiana approach bridges that make up Section 3. Section 3 delivers the Indiana‑side approach roadways and bridges that will provide all‑weather construction access for building the future Ohio River bridge that will ultimately connect Evansville, Indiana, and Henderson, Kentucky.

Big Creek WRF Expansion recognized with ACEC Georgia State Award

Atlanta, Georgia - The Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility Expansion earned the State Award at the ACEC Georgia Engineering Excellence Awards, a significant recognition that reflects the strength of the unified design‑build partnership between Archer Western and Brown and Caldwell. Together, Archer Western and Brown and Caldwell delivered a $350 million expansion, the largest capital project in Fulton County’s history, increasing treatment capacity from 24 to 32 MGD with future expandability to 38 MGD. The upgraded facility now stands among the largest flat‑membrane/MBR treatment plants in the U.S., improving effluent quality and reducing nutrient discharge by more than 250,000 pounds annually.

St. Petersburg, Florida - Archer Western completed a key milestone at the South Cross Bayou WWTP by relocating the existing 48” influent pipe and flow meter above grade using an innovative temporary engineered bypass. The temporary pipe was in service for less than 3 weeks, allowing the final above ground pipe installation to be completed swiftly.
Dallas, Texas - Water Division leaders kicked off the year where we spent two days gaining fresh inspiration, reflecting on lessons learned and celebrating the achievements that defined the past year. Chicago, Illinois -  Walsh Construction manages a nearly 2,000-cubic-yard concrete pour at an active industrial plant.  With tight site access, strict safety requirements, and zero margin for delay, Walsh managed the safe delivery and placement of 185 concrete loads.
Tempe, Arizona - Archer Western continues progress on the Johnny G. Martinez Water Treatment Plant granular activated carbon and dewatering improvements project.
Windsor Locks, Connecticut - As part of the Amtrak railroad project at the Bridge Street grade crossing, Walsh Construction led a carefully coordinated crane pick operation to set pre-cast bridge beams spanning the Connecticut River. 
Tuscon, Arizona - Key milestones have been achieved on site at the TARP Targeted PFSAS Treatment project. Concrete pour is complete, all 10 ion exchange vessels and the associated five manifolds have been installed and the masonry electrical building is nearing completion.
North Texas -  Archer Western progressing on the Cotton Belt Regional Trail, a 26-mile regional shared-use path that will extend across seven cities, generally paralleling the DART Silver Line corridor.
Georgetown, Texas - Archer Western team from the Hutto South WWTP Expansion participate in the Silver Shells Shootout, a clay shootout benefitting Heroes Resource Center. Proceeds from the fundraiser help to provide services and resources to Veterans, service members and their families.
Chicago, Illinois - The Human Resources Department held their annual coat drive and collected winter accessories and coats to support One Warm Coat, a non-profit organization that provides free coats to children and adults in need, while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability.
