Million Makers is an innovative entrepreneurial challenge which sees teams of employees, from organisations across the UK, competing to raise as much as possible from an initial seed funding investment. The challenge collectively raises over £1 million every year to change the lives of young people across the UK.
These guidelines showcase what exists within the Million Makers brand. Each section will guide you through the visual identity of The King's Trust and showcase how you can use it in your communications about Million Makers.

About The King's Trust
The King’s Trust helps young people who have faced disadvantage and adversity to build a better future for themselves, through employment, education and enterprise.
Founded by HM The King, when he was HRH The Prince of Wales, in 1976, the charity supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school. Many are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness, poverty or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law.
The Trust helps young people to build skills and confidence and find employment. Over the last five years, three in four young people supported by The Prince’s Trust moved into work, education or training.
The charity has helped more than a million young people to date and helps tens of thousands more across the UK each year.
If you would like to use this boilerplate text in your advertising, please contact your King's Trust contact.
When referencing The King's Trust in your promotional materials please:
- Reference the charity as The King's Trust when first referenced in any document; a shortened version 'The Trust' can be used from then onwards.
- Avoid referring to The King's Trust as KT in written materials.
- Remember to capitalise TKT in The King's Trust and don't forget the apostrophe in King's!
The young people we support
Success stories are one of the most powerful ways to communicate our impact. If you wish to use them in your promotional activities please get in touch with your King's Trust contact first.
"I threw myself into Team from the start. I loved the opportunity to make friends, practise my English and learn whatever new skills I could. I tried to take advantage of opportunities to build on my leadership skills, especially when it came to our community project."
"The Enterprise programme instilled in me a sense of self-belief and resilience. Professionally, it taught me the essentials of understanding business, blending this knowledge effectively with my passion for supporting young people."
“I had gone from one of the lowest points in my life to feeling full of positivity and excitement for the future. I was then asked to be a Young Ambassador for The King’s Trust which has been an enormous privilege."

Creating your own Million Makers team logo
It's time to get creative! We encourage you to create your own logo for your Million Makers team. But, please bear in mind the following:
- Creating a team logo is a fun way to make your fundraising recognisable.
- Don't forget to submit your team logo to your King’s Trust contact for sign off before use.
- Please don't use The King's Trust logo or the Million Makers device in your design.
- Lead with your own identity by using your company's fonts, colours and branding in your logo designs (not The Trust's!).
- Make it clear you're a Million Maker's team by including the word 'team' in your designs.

Press guidelines
Do:
- Always send press releases to your King's Trust contact for approval.
- Million Makers teams should send out their own press releases to local media.
- Speak to the internal press team, within your company, before generating press.
- Think about what makes your story unique - journalists receive hundreds of press releases every day so your story needs to stand out.
- Try different types of media related to your business; your company's internal and external magazines/website and intranet/trade press.
- Try local media such as radio stations and newspapers.
- Unless you have existing contacts at a publication ask for the News Editor or send the release to their news desk.
- Issue a pre and post activity press release to attract interest and raise awareness.
- Check the marketing toolkit first for style guidance.
- Include photos from the activity in your story - only send good quality, high resolution images to accompany a press release.
- Ask a third party to proofread your draft.
Don't:
- Don't approach any national media about your event as this may clash with The Trust's own national PR campaigns. Speak to someone in The King's Trust press office if you would like to generate national PR.
- You are not a spokesperson for The King’s Trust or HM The King and therefore should not talk about our work when dealing with the media, other than using the written words as outlined in the press release. If you are asked any questions about The King’s Trust or HM The King please refer them to The Trust’s National Press Office via 020 7543 1318.
- If for any reason something goes wrong during your fundraising activities, please immediately contact your King’s Trust representative – do not speak to the media if you are contacted in such a scenario.
- The King’s Trust cannot approach media to share a story on your team’s behalf.
How to fundraise for The King's Trust
If you are raising money for The King’s Trust, you must use a ‘solicitation statement’ on your promotional materials.
What is a solicitation, you ask? Well, it's a sentence that explains the nature of the donation and how the funds will be used.
For example:
COMPANY / {TEAM NAME} from COMPANY are organising a series of events to raise funds for The King's Trust through the Million Makers challenge. These events are estimated to raise £xx in total, to be donated before March 2025. The King’s Trust is a registered charity in England and Wales (1079675) and Scotland (SC041198).
This makes it clear to your audience that you are raising money, and provides transparency on how much of their donation is going to the charity – it’s just good practise!
Want to learn more about solicitation statements? Our handy guide can be found, here.
Where your money goes:
- £20 could provide a young person with an inspiring two hours of work experience in a stable job in a thriving sector.
- £50 could help The King's Trust cover the costs of a young person's first month of travel to work, unlocking opportunities and inspiring careers.
- £100 could leave a lasting legacy, this donation could contribute towards the specialist equipment that opens up a lifelong career for 1 young person on the margins of society.
- £250 could support a young person through one of our programmes in schools, inspiring them with the skills and confidence for a future career.
- £500 could support up to 10 young people to travel to work before their first pay cheque, unlocking and sustaining inspiring careers.
- £2,500 could help re-engage a classroom through our Achieve programme, supporting 10 young people with the aspirations and skills they need for the future workforce.
- £5,000 could support a dynamic Get Hired event for 30 young people, giving them opportunity to interview with a wide range of sector leading partners in one day.
Fundraising guidance
Fundraising Resources
There are lots of free resources to brand your fundraising activities, including poster templates, thank you poster, bunting, sponsorship forms, and more. Head to our fundraising resources page to download.
Fundraising Law
All fundraising must be legally compliant. Please check out the links below to ensure that your initiatives are in line with fundraising law and that you are ticking all of the boxes required for certain activities.
- For information about raffles and lotteries, visit the Gambling Commission website.
- For general information and more specifics on alcohol and liability, read The King’s Trust Fundraising FAQs.
- If you are organising voluntary or community events, GOV.UK provides lots of helpful information.
Commercial fundraising
This is an entrepreneurial fundraising competition after all! If you would like to fundraise through a commercial product or initiative, please make sure your King’s Trust contact is aware. To be able to use The King’s Trust branding for this sort of initiative, a commercial legal agreement will need to be put in place. This can take a few weeks, so make sure that you get in touch sooner rather than later.
If you need some guidance around tax, you can find our Tax Guidance notes here.
Young Ambassadors
Young Ambassadors help to bring your event to life. Young people who have been supported by The King’s Trust have taken on this role to speak about their experience with The Trust to inspire supporters and to encourage young people to sign up for one of our programmes. We have supported them with public speaking training and will always accompany them to your event.
Each team has the opportunity to invite a Young Ambassador to speak at one event throughout the six-month competition. If you would like to request a Young Ambassador for your event (including for virtual events), please reach out to your King’s Trust contact at least four weeks before the event.
We ask that you treat the Young Ambassador attending like you do your guests. If you are inviting them to a dinner, please ensure there is a space for them at the table. And if we let you know of any access or support requirements, please do your best to accommodate.
Celebrity Ambassadors
Securing celebrities to promote your event or activity is part of the challenge to the group. We are unable to make asks to celebrities to attend Million Makers initiatives. We are more than happy for you to approach celebrities to support your initiatives. We ask just two things:
- Contact The King’s Trust before approaching celebrities, so we can check that they aren’t currently supporting us in another way.
- Ensure your request is clearly made by your company or your Million Makers team, not on behalf of The King’s Trust.
If we can’t get a speaker along to your event, never fear – there are so many ways to bring The King’s Trust to life through your communications.
