A huge thank you to the PTFA for the Christmas Fair which was in full swing this week, and last, for our Archibald children. They all had a brilliant day. #AFSFun #AFSChristmas
PTFA CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR THE CHILDREN
A huge thank you to the PTFA for gifting every child in school a new book to enjoy. We hope that the children enjoy reading these with you at home. #AFSReads
CAREERS
Are you self employed? Do you own your business? Could you come and talk to our children about your business and your career journey. We will give lots of guidance to support what questions the children will ask. We will share your visit on our Instagram. Please complete our Jobs and Skills Database – Fill out form
FABULOUS CHRISTMAS PRODUCTIONS
Thank you to everyone who came to our concerts last week. It has been wonderful to see all year groups performing for their visitors and we know that we have warmed your hearts with Christmas joy! Thanks also to staff for their hard work in preparing and practising to get the children to performance standard!
Of course, the biggest thanks go to the children who have entertained us with their singing, dancing, storytelling and team work. We are all very proud!
FREE SCHOOL MEAL HOLIDAY VOUCHERS
Newcastle City Council have continued to issue Free School Meal Vouchers for this Christmas holiday, these are £30 per child. They were emailed through the usual system to all those families eligible for the vouchers. Please contact the school office as soon as possible if you have any issues accessing this voucher.
HEADLICE
HEADLICE: Please continue to ‘take a peek, once a week and check your child’s hair.
Headlice are very common in children. If you know that your child has had or has headlice, please let us know so that we can also raise awareness within their class and let other grown-ups know that there are headlice in the year group. This means that everyone has the opportunity to check their own child’s hair. No child or family will ever be named regarding having headlice.
If your child does have headlice, and you would rather treat them straight away as opposed to waiting until that evening, we are very happy for you to do this and then bring your child into school. We would never want any of our children to be uncomfortable or itchy.
A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS DINNER
A huge thank you to our lunchtime team for making our school Christmas dinner a wonderful experience.
TALES ON THE TYNE
You may remember the previous art trails around Newcastle (Elmer and Shaun the Sheep) which our school has been so proud to be a part of.
In the Summer of 2026, a brand new trail called Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne will be popping up all across the city and we are delighted to be involved again.
In the Spring term, we will begin thinking about how our rabbit should be painted before it becomes part of the trail, and how we can raise funds for St Oswald's Hospice.
OPAL - OUTDOOR PLAY AND LEARNING
Our children LOVE our OPAL offer but as you can imagine, it is very resource intensive as all the equipment is played with by 300 children 5 days a week. Are you having a sort out at home?
