Relieving Principal's Message
Welcome back to Term 2! I hope everyone had a restful break and ready for another exciting term of learning and growth. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the new families who have joined the Ballina Public School community this term. We are thrilled to have you with us and look forward to many wonderful experiences together. ANZAC Day march Thank you to staff, our student leaders, students, and their families who joined me in proudly representing Ballina Public School at the ANZAC Day march. Despite the rainy and miserable weather in the days leading up to the event, I was filled with pride at the number of students who participated. Thankfully, the rain held off until the final 10 minutes of the ANZAC service, allowing us all to pay our respects in good conditions. District Cross Country Today, 33 students are participating in the Headlands District Cross Country at Teven Tintenbar Public School. They will be running a 2km track (for 8-10 year olds) or a 3km track (for 11-13 year olds) through the lush green hills up on the plateau. We wish them all the best of luck—it is a fantastic achievement to represent our school at this level. Do It For Dolly Day Today is the official Do It For Dolly Day. This day is dedicated to bringing the community together, spreading kindness, and uniting in helping break the silence around bullying. To acknowledge the importance of this day, remembering Dolly, and as a visual reminder to us all to show and spread kindness to everyone, all staff and students wore blue—Dolly’s favourite colour—and created blue butterflies to display in the hall. Colour Fun Run – Raising Money for Dolly’s Dream Next Friday we will be holding our Colour Fun Run here at school. We are raising money for the Dolly’s Dream organisation, which is dedicated to changing the culture of bullying in Australia. Dolly’s Dream provides practical tools, workshops, and resources that empower young people, parents, and educators to stand up to bullying and spread kindness. Yesterday, a note was sent home asking for volunteers on the day. If you would like to help during the Colour Fun Run, please fill in the form and return it to the office by Monday 11th May. It is not too late to raise some money for the organisation—please refer to the Colour Fun Run flyer sent home for information on how to create a profile to receive donations. Please remember your child/ren will need to bring a white or pale coloured shirt to wear during the Colour Run. Students will only wear these shirts during the event and will change back into their school uniform after the run. School Uniforms As we enter autumn and the weather becomes cooler, it’s time for jumpers and winter attire to come back out. Our school uniform colour is navy blue. School uniforms can be purchased from School Locker and include: BPS polo shirt Jacket/Jumper Shorts/Skorts Dress Plain navy shorts/skorts, jumpers, and tracksuit pants are also acceptable and can be purchased from Big W, Kmart, or Best & Less. I look forward to an engaging and successful term ahead with all our students and families. Mary Cameron Principal (Relieving)
