Dear friends and family,
In our previous letter we told you all that we both have graduated missionary training and are ready to go wherever the Lord wants to take us now. We would like to tell you what He is allowing us t do now.
Missionary Conference
As we told you, we were asked to participate in the missionary conference of the Colombia field this year (which was the last week of January) by being in charge of the time with the children of the missionaries and having activities with them.
It was a good time and we were able to get to know the guys we were with better.
New home
When Eimy graduated from training in December, we had to move out of the institute and move somewhere else. We praise God because He provided us with a small apartment that we are renting very close to the institute, which we have been slowly settling in to make it more like a home because it was empty.
We are glad that we can walk to the institute and still participate in the activities there with the students.
Proposal for temporary ministry
At the end of the training, the leadership of New Horizons proposed us to stay and help in the Institute because of the current need for teachers. Since we probably will not be going to an ethnic group this year, we said yes to this proposal while the Lord takes us to an ethnic group.
We are members of New Horizons
We then sent a request to become a member of New Horizons, to which they responded by agreeing, and now Jordan is helping as a teacher in the biblical stage of the training.
He has been teaching the Romans II class to the 3rd semester students. We are currently teaching “Missions and the Church.” And on Fridays he leads the sports afternoons.
Church
With our local church we are very active and involved. We restarted the youth club classes on Saturdays, the leaders are very encouraged with us to do a good job, and the kids from the neighborhood keep coming, which encourages us because it allows us to continue with what we have been teaching.
We are teaching the book of Acts to the more advanced ones, about 5 kids, and wow, they ask really good questions that challenge us to prepare well to explain clearly.
Jordan continues to lead the worship ministry and teach some Sundays. This year he is planning to start meetings with the men of the church, who are the only group that does not have meetings outside of Sundays. Pray that it can happen and be a blessing. Eimy is in charge of the Sunday classes for the younger kids.
We thank God that we can continue to participate in His work here in Fusagasugá. And we thank you for your support and prayers for us.
Tribal ministry
Currently in Colombia, the security situation is complex for the tribal missionaries, which has made us consider the possibility of serving outside of the country. We are currently praying for some places and for direction from the Lord. We still need to contact people who can give us more information about these places. And we hope to share more about this in the near future.
In these moments where we are not sure in which tribal place we will be serving as missionaries, we continue to work for the Lord where He has us. And we want to continue taking steps of faith, like Moses, who “stood as seeing Him who is Invisible”.
Prayer requests
- For Jordan, when he teaches students at the Institute, it is a challenge and a great responsibility.
- That we can be a light in the neighborhood with the youth club on Saturdays and church on Sundays.
- For direction from the Lord regarding our desire to serve Him within an ethnicity.
- We are planning to apply for our US visas again, we want to visit our sending church and serve them for a while. Please pray for all the paperwork that needs to be done, like renewing passports first, etc.
Thank you for sustaining us in prayer. We appreciate you very much.
