Trout Release Day Marks Project Completion

Trout in the Classroom Comes Full Circle

Students in Mr. Gross' class recently celebrated the completion of their Trout in the Classroom project by releasing brook trout into the stream beside Otselic Valley Central School. Throughout the school year, students cared for and observed the trout as they developed, learning about aquatic ecosystems, conservation, and the trout life cycle. The project culminated with the release of the fish into their natural habitat.

Students release trout after months of classroom care

Members of the Chenango Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited assisted with the release and helped provide students with a meaningful, hands-on learning experience.

The trout release served as a memorable conclusion to a project that allowed students to connect classroom learning with the natural world while seeing the results of their hard work firsthand.
