10 late round players I took notice of at the combine

#1: Chris Johnson CB, SDSU

This dude is electric. He ran 4.40 at the combine which was the 3rd best for all cornerbacks, and will be on the faster side of corners in the Leauge, but speed isn't all of it. He also is an elite defender with an extremely high coverage rate of 92.4, and allowed only 41% completions on him in college. It’s not even about skill, reporters have said that he has impressed during interviews, and his character is not even in question, and he has lots of respect from his teammates and coaches. This dude seems like a perfect steal to any team. He has the speed, he has the coverage, and he has the leadership and coachability to be a great player in the Leauge.

#2: Kaleb Elarms Orr, LB, TCU

Without a doubt Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese had the best linebacker combine but in my case Orr is 3rd. Kaleb Elarms Orr had the 3rd fastest 40 yard dash with 4.47 of all linebackers and that’s impressive when you look at how strong this linebacker class is. He is fast enough to fast enough to cover sideline to sideline plays and keep up with running backs and tight ends in open space. Kaleb was super productive in college leading his team in tackles nearly every game, and he is great at finishing and making the tackle and wraps up well. Teammates have said that they respect Kaleb, and so do coaches. He is a reliable leader and seems like he should be ranked higher in mock drafts.

#3: Jalen Kilgore, S, South Carolina

Everybody has the same 3 for top safety’s. Caleb Downs, Dillion Theinman, and EMW, but Kilgore has given me a case at the combine to put him in that running. Kilgore has pretty good speed, being top 5 in the 40 yard dash for safety’s , but what impresses me the most is his coverage and leadership. Jalon Kilgore is an exceptional safety when it comes to coverage and he is a great play reader and is a ball hawk. He can play anywhere in the secondary when it could be the middle, left or right and wherever he is he will dominate. Kilgore’s skill could be a fit with any team (I hope my Vikings), and I feel his floor isn’t that low making him a reliable saftey. In South Carolina, Kilgore was a team captain, and was the vocal point of the secondary, and even as a rookie he could do that in the NFL. One day when Kilgore is a veteran he would be a great leader to young players, but as of know he is an NFL ready voice.

#4: Zavion Thomas, WR, LSU Thomas didn’t have exceptional stats at LSU. But other things can make me believe that he can be a star. Thomas ran the 2nd fastest 40 yard dash at 4. 28 behind only Brennan Thompson. Thomas is gonna be a deep threat WR, and could definitely fit into a WR3 role at some point in his career. At LSU Thomas had 44 catches for 488 yards, and 4 TDs, and he was really consistent in making the catch. He could be a big saftey WR for an NFL QB. Thomas is very confident in what I saw in drills, and he tried so hard as he should, and he seems like he will do whatever he can to become a starter. Thomas could be a great late round steal for any team.

#5: Mike Washington Jr, RB, Arkansas

This is a heavily talked about one, as he ran a faster 40 than Jerimyah Love, but with his excellent combine there is no point in being diffrent. Washington ran a 4.33 at the combine which was #1 for all RBs, and at Arkansas Washington had exceptional stats. Washington had over 1000 yard multiple rushing touchdowns, and even was a pretty good receiving back out of the backfield. Washington could consistency handle a heavy workload at Arkansas and he could be a strong backup NFL running back. Reporters combine stated that Washington cares more about the team’s goals over personal stats, and has great confidence. Teammates have stated that Washington has lockeroom maturity. Washington has de Fein Italy moved up on many teams draft board, and will be a solid player.

#6: Taylen Green, QB, Arkansas

Yes Green had the greatest QB combine of all time, which makes him really athletic but that’s not all of it. Yes his speed will be a big NFL factor, but this dude is 6’5, 220+ making him have an elite QB build. He has an absolute arm and inane deep ball distance making him a star QB. But why is he not ranked higher? His accuracy is kind of horrendous, and his college decision making also needed work. Taylen Green has also been talked about in interviews as a great leader, and is confident and humble. Some reports also say he is willing to take responsibility for mistakes. I mean if this guy can get the right type of coach and offensive mind, he won’t be as bad as some people think.
