Please label uniform

Please can we remind all parents to put their child's name in their uniform/PE kit. Please also check the labels after a few washes to make sure that the writing is still readable. We have a large amount of lost property in school that we are unable to reunite with its owner.

Important reminder - no nut products

We have members of the school community with severe allergies. Coming in to contact with nuts or nut products can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Please can we remind all parents and carers to ensure that they do not send any items in pack ups and snack boxes that contain nuts or nut products. This includes Nutella, peanut butter and any other spreads containing nuts, as well as cereal bars with nuts etc. Please check ingredient lists carefully.

Thank you for helping to keep everyone in our school community safe.

Please be aware that we currently have a confirmed case of chicken pox in school. Please click this NHS link for more information if required. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chickenpox/

Spotlight on Attendance 🔦

See below for attendance over the last two weeks. The overall school attendance has dropped back down again. We understand there is a lot winter illness at this time and that it can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell. Please take a look at our website for guidance about when is 'too ill for school'. https://www.parkside.eriding.net/key-information/absence

Please remember that absence from school not only equates to lost learning but also missing out on other benefits to a child's wellbeing and wider development.

Please also be aware that a period of five unauthorised days out of school will incur a penalty notice. Please take note of the changes to penalty notices and our updated attendance policy. This information is also available on the Absence & Attendance page on our website.

The Department of Education has advice on improving attendance - click here to view.

School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.

What an absence means for your child?

At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.

If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing - Help available from school

If you have any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child who attends Parkside Primary or require any additional support or advice with regards to attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding & Attendance Officer. If you have any question or worries about your child’s behaviour or require any additional family support then please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Daine, our Behaviour & Family Support Worker. Both members of staff are also available for children to talk to should they have any worries.

If you have any Safeguarding concerns outside of school hours, or are concerned a child has suffered or is likely to suffer significant harm and is at immediate risk call the Children’s Safeguarding Hub on (01482) 395500 or ring 999 (asking for the Police).
