Sixth Form Newsletter

20th May 2026

Welcome

Dear families & Year 13 students As we approach the final weeks of the academic year, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge what a significant milestone this is for our Year 13 students. Over the past two years, they have shown commitment, resilience and maturity, and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved. Year 13 students will begin their exam leave on Friday 22nd May. However, students are still expected to attend any remaining timetabled lessons in the following term. These final lessons are an important opportunity to consolidate knowledge, ask final questions, and ensure full preparation for the exams ahead. A reminder that business dress remains in place for all students when they are on site, including during the examination period. This reflects the professional approach we expect as students complete this important stage of their education. As students move into exam leave, it is vital that they use their time effectively. Structured and consistent revision will be key to success, and we encourage all students to follow a clear revision timetable, make use of the resources provided by staff, and seek support where needed. We would also like to take this moment to wish our Year 13 students the very best of luck in their examinations. This is an exciting time as they prepare to move on to their next steps, whether that be university, apprenticeships, or employment. We are confident they will go on to achieve great things. Finally, we thank our Year 13 students for their contribution to the Sixth Form community. They have been excellent role models and will be greatly missed. We wish them every success for the future. Kind regards Mr York Head of Sixth Form

A Level Results day

We are delighted to welcome our Year 13 students back to sixth form for A Level Results Day on Thursday 13th August 2026. Results will be available for collection from 9:00 a.m. in the Sixth Form Centre. This marks an important milestone in our students’ academic journeys, and we recognise that the day can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves. Our staff team will be on hand throughout the morning to offer support, guidance and congratulations as students receive their results. Whether students are progressing to university, apprenticeships or other exciting pathways, we are committed to supporting them with their next steps. We wish all of our students the very best of luck and look forward to celebrating their achievements with them.

Important Information for Students Unable to Attend Results Day

If a student is unable to attend A Level Results Day on Thursday 13th August 2026, there are alternative arrangements available for receiving results:

  • Results can be emailed directly to the student, or
  • A nominated person may collect the results on the student’s behalf.

To arrange either option, students must complete an Exam Results Release Form, which is available from the Sixth Form Office. If results are being collected by a nominated person, they must bring valid photo identification on the day. Please note: Students who are abroad on Results Day will not be able to access their school email accounts, so we advise students to plan ahead. If you have any questions or require clarification, please contact the Sixth Form Team in advance.

Exam Leave for Year 13

From Friday 22nd May, Year 13 students will move to a part‑time timetable as they prepare for and sit their final A Level examinations. During this period, students are encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their independent study and revision. Students are welcome to come into school to work independently. However, for health and safety reasons, all students must sign in and out at the Sixth Form Centre each time they attend. While students will be expected to manage their time effectively and focus on exam preparation, staff will continue to be available throughout this period to provide support, answer questions and offer guidance where needed.

Year 13 Leavers – Return of Books, Laptops and Resources

As our Year 13 students approach the end of their time with us, we would like to remind families that all borrowed books, laptops and other school resources must be returned before students can be officially signed off. If there are any questions or concerns regarding borrowed equipment or resources, students should speak to their form tutor or visit the Sixth Form Office. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain our resources for future students.

Year 12 Transition to Year 13 – Planning for the Future

As we look ahead to next term, our current Year 12 students will formally progress into Year 13, marking the start of their final year in sixth form. This is an exciting and significant stage, as students begin to focus more closely on their future pathways beyond school. Over the coming months, students will explore a wide range of post‑18 options, including university, apprenticeships, employment and further training. We will begin the university application process, offering comprehensive guidance on researching courses, writing personal statements and submitting strong, well‑informed applications. We encourage all students to keep their options open by considering a broad range of opportunities and investigating all available pathways. Our priority is to ensure that every student feels well‑supported, informed and confident in the decisions they make about their future. Further information and advice will be delivered in school as we continue to support each student on their individual journey.
