Ysgol Tir Morfa - Newsletter

FRIDAY 24th April 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a lovely week in school, helped along by the sunshine that has lifted everyone’s spirits. Many of our classes have been out and about making the most of the good weather. Dosbarth Tegid enjoyed a fantastic visit to Greenacres Animal Park, meeting the animals and exploring the grounds, while Dosbarth Siabod had an exciting and hands‑on day at the Xplore Science Discovery Centre.   Thank you to all staff and pupils for another positive and energetic week. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend — enjoy the sunshine.

Kind regards,

Susan H. Roberts

Headteacher

Our Week at Tir Morfa
Aled class have been making the most of the weather, spending time on the bikes.
Dosbarth Lleuad have enjoyed the lovely weather this week ☀️ and taken advantage of our outdoor spaces that we have explored. We started decorating minibeast pictures and completed different messy play activities i.e. finding the hidden animals 🐸🦋🐞
Famau has been learning about relationships with Jiwsi Needs this week
Enfys enjoyed a walk out in the sunshine, we went to pets at home to look at some animals and stopped for an ice cream on the way home.
This week Tryfan tried baking instead of cooking. They all made a great job of making chocolate brownies and they all said they were delicious.
We have been working hard to make our very own “children’s nurse” out of boxes. We have painted him and decorated him with shapes and different textured materials. He is going to look amazing! Well done Dosbarth Alwen!
Following the story ‘Mrs Wishy Washy’ dosbarth Haul have been playing with the farm animals and enjoyed mud messy play. We’ve also enjoyed accessing the outdoor classroom.
Siabod went on an educational trip to Glyndwyr university in Northop to learn about our local environment.
Dosbarth Tegid enjoyed a lovely visit in the sunshine to Greenacres Animal Park this week. They particularly enjoyed the meet and greet session with some of the smaller animals, this was a lovely opportunity for them to see the animals up close and say hello!
Brenig have been selecting and using materials that would have been used in the stone age.
Dosbarth Findeg this week have had fun litter picking with Caitlin from the North Wales Wildlife Trust.

Attendance Information for Parents and Carers

As part of our continued focus on attendance this year, we have decided to share attendance data regularly with parents and carers through our newsletter. Attendance remains one of our school priorities, and we believe that sharing this information helps keep everyone informed and working together to support our pupils. In Wales, the Welsh Government defines good attendance as 95% or above. Attendance of 90% or below is classed as persistent absence. These benchmarks are used nationally across schools in Wales. We would like to reassure families that we fully recognise that many pupils at YTM have significant health or medical needs which may make it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to meet these targets. As a school, we understand this and want to be very clear that no parent or carer should feel pressured or judged where absences are due to genuine health-related reasons. Our intention in sharing attendance data is simply to ensure transparency and awareness of our overall school attendance and the expectations placed upon us as a school. We value our strong partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping pupils attend whenever they are able to do so. If you would like to discuss attendance in relation to your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school - we are always happy to work together to provide the best possible support.
