Newsletter January 2024

Security Notice: YOU MAY NOT SHARE THIS LETTER ON ANY SOCIAL NETWORK OR PUBLIC SPACE, NOR SHARE IT WITH ANY OTHER PERSON WITHOUT PERMISSION. THANK YOU

May our beloved Jesus Christ guide you in His peace and wisdom, may He remind you of His unfailing faithfulness.

In January each year Open Doors publishes data on persecution of Christians around the world. The data of the world persecution list for 2024 was obtained by means of a research carried out between the 1st of October 2022 and the 30th of September 2023. According to the results of the survey, North Korea is again in the number 1 position on the list as the most dangerous country for Christians.

A worrying situation is the deportation of North Korean refugees to China, who are considered traitors to the state and are taken to pressure or forced labour camps, many are tortured to reveal whether they have had contact with the gospel.

Our mission is to continue to prayerfully support them. So I invite you to take a few minutes and intercede for the following petitions:

Prayer requests for North Korea
  • Pray that Christians imprisoned for their faith will know God's loving presence and sustenance with them at all times.
  • Pray that secret Christians will be protected from the scrutiny of the authorities as they gather.
  • Intercede that God will reveal himself in dreams or visions to Kim Jong-Un so that he may surrender to God's presence.

.

For this year 2024 it was proposed to start with 21 days of prayer for the Korean peninsula, so each of us personally prayed and sought God's direction for the nation as well as what God wants to do in our lives (surrender, humility, holiness, intimacy). To close the 21 days of prayer we met from the 22nd to the 25th of January to pray and share what God revealed during those days.

The 22nd to the 25th of January
The arc of concord

In recent weeks, Kim Jong Un has declared that North Korea will no longer seek reconciliation or reunification with South Korea. He has declared that South Korea is its first enemy.

The arch of concord that symbolised future reunification with South Korea built by his father Kim Jong Il in 2001 was destroyed in mid-January. Let us pray that as Saul had a personal encounter with God so Kim Jong Un will be surrounded by God's radiance of light and be converted to be an agent of peace and not of evil (Acts 9).

The Footstool Member Care Retreat

From 21-24 February we will be in Seoul participating in a retreat called The Footstool Member Care Retreat. The retreat is specifically for cross-cultural workers serving in Asia.

The retreat programme will consist of a morning service and speakers' session, followed by lunch, with free time to choose from the activities available. I ask you to pray that this time will be a blessing and that God will take control of everything including transportation.
