Please stay up-to date on all JB Happenings!

2nd Grade-IREAD-3

IREAD/ILEARN: Each year all our students take a variety of assessments to monitor their progress and mastery on the Indiana Academic Standards and classroom learning. By law, our 3rd grade students are assessed on IREAD and ILEARN to monitor student mastery of learning. This year, our 2nd grade students will join our 3rd grade students and take IREAD. Below is a letter from the district with more information. The below guidance is for 2nd grade only.

Body Boundaries Program

JB Stephens students will participate in Body Boundaries programing instructed by GC School Counselors/Social Workers next Thursday and Friday. If you do not want your child to participate, please email Aleesha Broadus (JB School Counselor) abroadus@gcsc.k12.in by Tuesday, September 26.

College Go Week

We will be celebrating College Go Week, next week! I encourage the kids to wear any college gear they have! Especially if it's IU :)

Family Resources from the Indiana Learning Lab

The Parent and Family Support Hub is now available in the Indiana Learning Lab. This site features resources to support parents and families of students in preschool through high school. For a more detailed tour of the platform, view the recording of Introducing: The Learning Lab Parent and Family Support Hub. Information attached below.

School Dismissal Manager

School Dismissal Manager is now LIVE! Please check your email for login and set up directions. All school dismissal changes now go through School Dismissal Manager. You do NOT need to call the office if you put your change/absence in the APP. You should receive a confirmation email from SDM with your update.

This year, student iPads will be turned off from the hours of 7:00pm-6:00am, as they are not needed for instructional purposes during this time. Please be sure and charge iPads each night and limit use of them for non-school purposes. Thanks for your help!

Our JB Way is our expectations of students. We expect JB Cougars to be Respectful, Responsible and Kind! When we "catch" students following the JB Way, they are recognized by earning a Cougar Buck. Students also earn a Cougar Buck each day they are at school. They can then cash those bucks in for small prizes and fun coupons. Big thanks to our PTO for sponsoring the prizes!

Congratulations to this weeks Positive Office Referrals!

Breakfast starts at 7:30am. If your student is needing to eat breakfast at school, please be sure and have them here right at 7:30am. Our instructional day starts at 7:45am and we want to be sure students are in classes and learning. Thanks!

Each classroom at JB has a designated snack time to help our students stay fueled for the school day! Please send in a healthy snack with your child each day. You can also send in bulk items to share with the class, we are always appreciative of donations.
