It was a really fun day in school today seeing all of the children dressing up for PTA Day! Some really imaginative ideas to represent the letters P, T or A - well done everyone. Thank you to the PTA for organising this and a huge thank you to all of you for supporting the event with your donations, it really does make a massive difference.

Our annual Sports Days will be running week commencing Monday 18th May. Please see below for a reminder of dates and the letters sent out.
- Mon 18th May - Year 1 & 2 Sports Day
- Tues 19th May - Year 3 & 4 Sports Day

Year 6 are bright sparks
Year 6 have started their next science unit - electricity. They have been using the electrical components and seeing what they could remember from their previous learning in year 4. They did a great job at remembering how to make a working circuit and recognising the symbols that represent each electrical component. Watch this space as next they will be trying to make their own batteries out of fruit and vegetables.
All the fun of the fair!
Year 2 have enjoyed learning how to design and create a functional fairground wheel so that the wheel rotates and has a free-standing structure. They evaluated different existing designs, looked at the properties of materials we would need, followed design criteria developed by a survey to inform their designs and tested how to make an axel so the wheel rotates. Below are just some of their fantastic creations - which one would you like to take a spin on?
No sweets in packed lunches or snacks
Please can we remind parents and carers that confectionery such as sweets, lollipops and chocolate should not be brought in packed lunches or for snack time. Please also avoid unhealthy snacks such as sausage rolls.
Our aim is to ensure that all packed lunches brought from home and consumed in school provide pupils with healthy and nutritious food that is similar to food served from the school kitchen, which is regulated by national standards. Items such as lollipops are also serious choking hazards.
It is not our intention to dictate to parents what and how they should be feeding their children, but we want to work with parents to educate our children about healthy dietary choices so that they can make their own informed choices independently when they are older. Thank you for your support.

Water Bottles
As the weather is getting warmer, please can we remind all parents to make sure that their children bring a water bottle to school. It's really important for the children to stay hydrated. Please fill with water only, no juice or fizzy drinks.
This week in Treetops
This week in Treetops the children have been enjoying the weather and exploring their senses outside.
Headteacher Awards
A big well done to Theo, Esme, Muhammed, Frankie W, Evie and Aaliyah in Year 6 and Summer in Year 5 for earning Headteacher Awards this week.
Rounders report
Well done to the Year 4 pupils who did a brilliant job of representing the school at the recent rounders competition. Miss Oldridge said they were a pleasure to take. We look forward to getting the results in.
Online Gaming
Online gaming is a common part of childhood social life, starting at very young ages, but it carries risks such as stranger contact, gambling‑like mechanics, and exposure to inappropriate or extremist content. Spotlight on Attendance 🔦
Please see below for the attendance figures for the last two weeks of last term. Well done to 2C for their 100% week! The overall school attendance has picked up again since the Easter break, so let's keep that up. We understand that illnesses happen but some absences are avoidable. Please see the guidance below. Remember, being in school benefits your child in so many ways, such as building friendships, confidence and wellbeing.
Here are some reminder of how to support your child:
- Do not take holidays in term time (see here for Penalty Notice information)
- Make appointments outside of school hours
- Use the "When is too ill too ill" guidance when considering keeping your child off school (click here to view)
- Arrive on time each day. School gates open at 8.40 with registers closing at 8.55am
- Reach out to school Via Mrs Daine or Mrs Greenley for support around school attendance including Emotional Based School Avoidance
Absence from school not only equates to lost learning but also missing out on other benefits to a child's wellbeing and wider development.
