NK has had a completely closed border for approximately 4 years, but while waiting for it to open, there is a group of approximately 40 of us who have believed that God is calling us to go to this nation, and for this reason we are preparing ourselves in the FRCRC, whose mission is to prepare for the entrance of the gospel into NK and to equip servant workers capable of responding in whatever way is necessary to rebuild the nation in the truth of Jesus Christ.
Although we are not seeing we are believing that God will open the borders in His time so that we can enter and bear the truth of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance in what we do not see).
However, since last year God has been moving and making some connections specifically in Japan.
Why Japan?
In Japan, Kanagawa High School is a little piece of North Korea in the heart of Yokohama, Japan's second largest city. They are Koreans brought to Japan during World War II.
In this high school, twin portraits of North Korean leaders hang on the walls of the classrooms. Female students wear a uniform based on the North Korean national costume.
In the following link you will find a video where you can understand why Koreans living in Japan have strong ties with the North Korean regime.
Now, God has miraculously opened doors to make connections in Japan specifically in the North Korean educational institute. By the middle of this year a family from our community will be sent to pioneer there. The strategy used to permeate that place will be to go there as English teachers.
I ask you to take a few minutes of your time to thank God for this linking opportunity and at the same time pray that God will take control of this family in everything (wisdom, finances, documents, etc.) and that God will continue to show them the steps to follow regarding this community of North Koreans in Japan.
Psalm 127:3-4 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
We have been praying for God to raise up a generation in the Korean peninsula that is passionate about Him. I thank God that at the beginning of the month we had a sharing with the youth of the church (Yesuin Church). I particularly had two topics of God's word shared. I pray that the young people of the churches who have been distracted by the cares of this world may hear God's voice clearly, may know God's heart more deeply and may rest more fully in His love.
February was the month of winter holidays, however, for me it was a month where I had private Korean lessons for 3 days a week, as well as time for deep seeking of the Lord in prayer and reading the word.
The routine of activities at The fourth River Cultural Research Center (FRCRC) started on the 26th of February. So I am taking Korean Level 1 classes from Monday to Thursday from 9Am/12am and on Fridays I have to go to Seoul again to Soongsil University where I will be attending the following two courses from March 2nd.
1) Modern Missions and Unification: which will aim to explore the understanding of mission based on missional hermeneutics beyond the traditional mission perspective.
2) Missionary Strategy - Unification: In this course I will learn some unification missionary strategies in Korea.
I ask you to accompany me in prayer that God will give me wisdom, intelligence and creativity to do everything and also give me the ability to teach others. All this to glorify His name.
The Footstool Member Care Retreat
From 21-24 February I participated in The Footstool Member Care Retreat. The retreat was specifically aimed at cross-cultural workers serving in Asia.
The retreat programme consisted of morning services followed by several sessions where we learned about physical and spiritual healing from Drew Hyun who is the founder and pastor of Hope Church NYC.
In the free time there were various activities available which I enjoyed as well as meeting other intercultural workers and even other workers who have served in the North.
For security reasons we could not take pictures
Thank you for taking the time and praying for this activity which was truly a great refreshment to my life.
Gratitude
Last month I had not been able to sleep because of jet lag. I thank God that I am sleeping well now.
I thank God that at the end of January I started the first level of Korean language review, and thanks to your prayer support I did very well.
Thank God my family is doing well and my mum is doing very well with the rehabilitation sections she has had on her elbow.
Join with me in prayer
Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me in every decision I must make and give me divine direction for the next steps.
May I love our Lord more, with surrender. Love His Word, long for His presence, experience His joy, and be a good steward for His glory.
Wisdom to learn the Korean language and perfect English.
Pray that I will continue to learn and enjoy every activity I have during the week (prayer meetings, classes, training, ministry etc).
For the renewal of visas for some members of the community, God grant that they will be renewed in August without any problem.
God is opening the borders and projects can be developed without any problem so that I can flood NK with the presence of God.
