Team Grange at the Cancer Run
On Sunday, lots of children from Grange took part in the Cancer Run at Gosforth Racecourse- and what a fantastic morning it was! Whether tackling the one or three mile route, everyone gave it their all and had great fun along the way.
To top it off, the morning ended with a Greggs picnic- a perfect reward for all that effort and enthusiasm. Well done to all our runners- we are proud of you!
Grange Has Got Talent!
Miss Tutt organised another incredible talent show for us this week. The children have been practising their performances at break times and at home in preparation for the big day!
We were all so impressed with the children who took part. There was a fantastic variety of acts including dancing, gymnastics, magic tricks, singing, cheerleading, trumpet playing, joke telling and even two boys holding their breath for 30 seconds!
What a wonderful celebration of talent, bravery and confidence. It takes real courage to stand on stage and perform in front of hundreds of children and every one of our performers did themselves proud. Well done everyone!
Year 4 Artists
Year 4 have been inspired by the rainforest to create mood boards. They have considered textures, pattern and colours in their work.
This week, they took 1 picture but created 4 images from it. They zoomed in using a view finder so they could really focus on the patterns we have in nature.
OPAL Play
Our OPAL Cadets came to see me today full of exciting news and requests for the newsletter! They have plans to turn the 4 palette houses into something new for next half term. They are going to create an Ice-Cream Cafe, Aquarium, Beach House and an actual beach!
But none of this will be possible without your help! Do you have any of the following things that you can donate to school please?
Seaside toys (buckets and spades), shells, drift wood, pretend sea creatures, dried seaweed, an old lobster pot, picnic blanket, beach/garden chairs, picnic hamper, empty ice cream containers, empty lollipop boxes, ice-cream scoops...or anything else you can think of!
Congratulations to our Golden Welly Winners!
Movie Stars in the Making!
One of our Year 4 pupils and his older brother are both talented young film makers. They have been shortlisted for a film award. They wrote the script, acted and directed the film- what an incredible achievement for a 9 and 11 year old! I have watched the film which is moving and inspiring and would urge you all to take a look. If you click on the link below you can watch it and vote for it to win!
Would you like some financial advice?
On the 18th of June, Lyndsey Mallen, Welfare Rights Officer, will attend our coffee morning in the Treehouse to give advice about financial support to parents. Please come along, enjoy a coffee and biscuit and speak to Lyndsey about benefit entitlement, free school meals, housing, employment, managing debts........
Goodbye and good luck!
We are really sorry to be saying goodbye to Miss Foster who has worked at Grange for 10 years as a support assistant. She has worked in most year groups supporting children in groups or on an individual basis. She has a lovely nurturing manner and children are always keen to work with her. Miss Foster has decided to move on to a different career and we wish her well with this. We will all miss her.
Summer Fair
Our summer fair on Saturday 14th June is going to be a brilliant day bringing our families together. We need some help with a few things.
Do you have a gas BBQ we could borrow for our burgers and sausages?
We're looking for some keen parents to take turns in goal taking penalties against the children, perhaps for about 30 minutes each.
Would anyone like to do some face painting for us?
If you can help with any of these things or want to volunteer on one of our stalls, then please send us an email Grangefirstparents@outlook.com
We will have a bouncy castle at the fair and this year we are offering a price for a 1 bounce session or an option for unlimited bouncing. We will be selling the unlimited bounces in advance and then give your child a wristband on the day of the fair. Look out for more details about this after half term.
Physical Week
Mr Macdermott has been working hard behind the scenes for months organising our Grange Physical Week which takes place as soon as we return to school on Tuesday 3rd June.
The theme this year is Around the World. Mr Mac has managed to find experts and coaches to come into school during the week to teach our children how to play sports from around the world AND he has managed to represent every continent! What an achievement!
There will be Tchoukball, Futsal, Haka, Handball, American Football, Kabaddi and African Dancing. We also have an athlete coming into school to share an assembly with the children and to do workshops.
Your children need to: wear sports clothes to school every day, wear their school PE kit on their sports day and bring a water bottle every day. Fingers and toes crossed for good weather please!
Have a wonderful half term holiday everyone! We look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 3rd June.
