A Message From Head of School Tyler Lewis
Convocation 2023
The KUA Community gathered on the Quad and in Flickinger Auditorium for Convocation, which officially and ceremoniously opens the school year.
We all should strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on campus. Feeling like you belong and can be your authentic self in a community is essential for continued growth as a person. Does this happen 100% of the time? No, but we can all do our best to make this part of our culture. Get to know someone new and invite them into a conversation. Speak up if you see someone saying or doing something that makes you uncomfortable. Be your authentic self. Wear the cute dinosaur dress if that makes you happy." - Elysia Burroughs, Science Department Chair, STEM Scholar Program Co-Director, and 2023 Mikula Award recipient for excellence in teaching
Matriculation 2023
New students also participated in Matriculation, a moment when they officially joined the student body and were welcomed into the community.
We lift and celebrate student voices here at KUA and whether you are a new or returning student, you will feel that your voice matters and is empowered in this community. And sometimes your voice will come out in song, or in a question, or exploring a thought. Sometimes it will ring out in the classroom, here in Flick, with your peers or to people you’ve not even met yet. It will come through with the confidence, the clarity and the passion that you’ll develop by being curious and diving into all those aspects of life at KUA that capture your attention. - Tyler Lewis, Head of School
New Faculty Join the KUA Family
KUA is thrilled to welcome a host of new faculty to The Hilltop, all of whom will serve as teachers, advisors, coaches, and mentors to a robust community of learners.
Scenes From: 2023 Orientation Camping Trips
A rite of passage at KUA, Orientation Camping Trips give new students the time to connect with one another, get to know their teachers, and immerse themselves in the beautiful landscape of Northern New England. For two nights, students slept under the stars at either Mount Mansfield or Mount Ascutney after a day of hiking, games, yoga, and s'mores.

This summer, we asked the College Advising team to share their favorite tips for students and families visiting college campuses. Here are the five things they suggest if you want to make the most of your time at a school and help you make an informed college decision.
