Toiletry Drive Through February in Honor of MLK, Jr.
With the fires in Southern California and many of us finding ways to help those most heavily impacted, many local needs continue. One of them is Catholic Worker Hospitality House (CWHH), which is actually the closest homeless shelter to Brisbane, operating a free dining room five mornings a week, a year-round homeless shelter, and permanent supportive housing for former guests. CWHH is located in San Bruno, on the grounds of St. Bruno's Catholic Church. Note: CWHH is neither operated nor funded by St. Bruno’s parish, the Archdiocese, or any governmental agency. You may already be aware that Brisbane resident Peter Stiehler, is CWHH's director. To commemorate MLK Day, the IDEA Committee is partnering with Peter and CWHH to host a toiletry drive, starting today, and running through the month of February.
MoB Shop is this Friday & Saturday at Mission Blue
Speaking of where you can make donations...donate gently-used clothing and baby gear for this year's MoB Shop starting Thursday evening (if you donate on Friday morning, please spend extra time to sort them). And then be sure to shop on Friday, 1/24, from noon - 5 PM and Saturday, 1/25, from 10 AM - 3 PM; you'll be supporting the Brisbane community as well as recovery efforts in Los Angeles.

Caltrans Traffic Advisory: Overnight Ramp Closures on U.S. 101 at Beatty
Caltrans has scheduled various ramp closures along U.S. 101 near the city of San Mateo starting the week of January 27. The closures will focus on three ramps: Whipple Ave., Hillsdale Blvd., and Beatty Ave.
Beginning the week of January 27, crews will start grading the ramps, installing guardrail, and performing vegetation management control which will require their closure. The work is expected to continue for the next three weeks.
To ensure the safety of both motorists and workers, the ramps will be closed from 8 PM to 6 AM. Only one ramp will be closed at a time while the work is being completed.
Changeable messages or directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. During the closures, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be at the sites. For 24/7 traffic updates, please visit 511.org.
