Christian: Little Christ OSHI ONLINE SUNDAY SCHOOL

Welcome

Welcome to Our Savior Hawaii's Online Sunday School! The word Christian describes people who love and follow Jesus. Christian means "little Christ." Through the Holy Spirit, we can be like Jesus as we share His love with the world. Today, we'll read a letter from Paul to see what that looks like.

God's Word

A letter from Paul to the church in Rome

Romans 12:9-21 CSB

9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. 10 Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another. 11 Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. 13 Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. 18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. 20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. 21 Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

Marks of a Christian Treasure Hunt

Supplies: 10 index cards, an adult to hide cards

Write these ten words, one on each of ten index cards: LOVE, HOPE, BLESS, JOY, HARMONY, CARE, WELCOME, PRAY, SERVE, PEACE. Hide the index cards around the room, house, or outside. Go on a treasure hunt! Your mission is to find index cards with each of these words on them. When all the cards have been found, name a way your family can show each Christian mark in your everyday lives.

Pray+ Bless

Prayer: Jesus, Help us to be more like you every day. Send your Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and lives so others might know who you are. Amen

Blessing: Circle up as a household. Pick someone to start the blessing. They say, "We follow Jesus. And that means me (place a hand on your chest). And that means you (place your other hand on the shoulder of the person next to you)". Pass the blessing by repeating those words and actions. When the blessing makes it back to the first person, they say, "Go and bless the world."
