Headteacher Comment
It was a great joy to have the first Celebration Assembly of this academic year. Today we celebrated our amazing Key Stage 2 stars of the week, handwriters of the week and sports stars of the week. It is so good to see our new Year 3 children off to a flying start, and to welcome our brand new Reception children, who loved taking part in their first assembly.
At the end of the assembly, we celebrated our traditional House Cup with our new House Chiefs: Mr Reid (Hoy), Miss Mitchell (Ennis), Mr Hughes (Adlington) and Mrs Wensley (Farah). Next week, the Cup will be awarded to our new House Captains, who are being announced on Monday morning, along with our new Junior Leadership Team and Head Boy and Head Girl.
More children than ever are enjoying a freshly cooked, healthy and delicious school dinner at Greenfields Primary School and Nursery. Please remember to book them on the app so your child has their favourite foods. We know lots of you also like to send children with a packed lunch, so below you'll find some information about how to plan for healthy packed lunches on a budget.
Thank you for your continued support - have a lovely weekend

Mixing with Colours
This week the children in Reception have continued to settle in well and have enjoyed a focused activity with an adult exploring colour mixing. They have also been learning numbers songs in maths and talking about what they would like to be when they grow up. A great second week in Reception.
Swimming for Powerful Panthers
Powerful Panthers had an AWESOME time swimming on Thursday afternoon! They smashed their learning and the class behaviour was impeccable! Miss Mitchell loved watching them in the pool and seeing how everyone's confidence soared! The Panthers can't wait to join the new groups and get practising new skills next week!
How High?
This week Year One welcomed ex-pupil Giacomo from a surveying company called Virtuscan into school. He showed us how aerial photographs/maps are made using drones. They were very excited to see how high the drone could go and can't wait to see the aerial photos and video footage that was taken of the school as part of the Geography topic.
Greedy Dragons in Year Three
In Cheeky Monkeys this week the children have been working hard to learn their Talk for Writing text, Kassim and the Greedy Dragon. Adding actions to the text has helped the children to remember what is going to happen in the story. It has also helped them to think about the different writing techniques they have been looking at so far this term.
Meanwhile, Marvellous Meerkats have made a fantastic start to their writing, this week they practised using adjectives to describe a dragon. Working with partners meant the ideas that came up were absolutely brilliant.
Year Five and the Heart
Year Five are learning about the structure of the heart and how the heart works. They made their own model of the heart.
Waving your Flag!
The children in Year Two loved exploring the different flags from around the world. The class discussed where each child came from and the different languages spoken. They then created a flag themselves, using tissue paper. They hope to have some of these flags on the cultural display board in the Key Stage 1 corridor (this picture is just a few of the amazing flags that were produced)!

As we become more used to our online way of working, we thought it was important to add to our home/school agreement (that you signed when your child started at Greenfields) to include online learning. Please follow the link below to complete this short addition relating to online learning with Greenfields Primary School and Nursery.
Class Code and Google Link
These have been updated for the classes in 2023-24, so click on the link for the class you will be in in September.
Teachers always look forward to posting their ‘Flippin' Greenfields’ videos every Friday next term in time for the weekend. Each one is all about next week’s learning, so will get your child prepared for a flying start on Monday. Research shows that children who feel prepared for the coming week are less anxious about school, happier to get up and go on a Monday morning and achieve better than those who are not.
