The Interview Process and What to Expect
No matter what field of study you decide to pursue, interviewing is an essential part of all jobs worldwide. That said, there are two parts to an interview: getting interviewed or giving the interview. As the interviewee, it’s important to keep in mind that how you present yourself is the first impression that really matters, therefore make sure you can express yourself whilst also maintaining modesty! In this practice, when I got interviewed, I found myself a bit nervous, which is okay until you begin to stutter over yourself. In other words, my lack of preparedness could’ve cost me in the real interview, so make sure you come prepared for the types of questions they may throw at you – even the simplest question can have a lot of thought in it. On the other hand, as the interviewer, it’s good to tackle the thought-provoking questions. This ensures that your interviewee can think on the spot whilst remaining honest about their character. When I practiced interviewing, I felt like I could’ve gotten to know my interviewee better. This could help me understand more of the person but also help them ease their nerves to ensure a smooth interview for the both of us. When we all practiced interviewing each other, it felt nice and relaxing until we were the interviewee. Altogether though, we were able to critique each other on their pros and cons, which is a nice practice to help for the real thing!
