Following her 2025 project Seaglass, Scottish singer-songwriter, Ellyn Oliver (Scotland on Sunday Artist of the Week, sold-out tour, Belladrum Festival) returns with ‘Cinnamon Skies’ — a warm, atmospheric indie release shaped by guitars, mellotron, pedal steel and tape-delay textures.

Written about falling for someone she met on a dating app, the track explores the intensity of long-distance connection — and the tendency to fill in the gaps with hope rather than reality.

Produced with Thomas Woods, the recording combines live instrumentation with tape-washed production effects, allowing detail and ambiguity to coexist without overpowering Ellyn's distinctive vocal. The song began as a writing exercise inspired by Joni Mitchell’s The Last Time I Saw Richard, encouraging a more narrative, image-led approach to Oliver's writing.

“This image of reading a book’s final chapter before patiently reading chapter-by-chapter fitted this idea of rushing to the desire of a happy ending so perfectly.”

About Ellyn: A distinctive and expressive voice lies at the heart of Ellyn Oliver’s music. Moving between intimate folk and fuller, gospel-influenced soul, her songs are often delivered with a natural Scottish lilt. Raised in rural Aberdeenshire and now based between Glasgow and Edinburgh, her music is shaped by themes of faith, nature, and human connection. Reviewers have described her as “a sublime talent, with unusual vocal phrasing reminiscent of artists like Regina Spektor and Norah Jones,” (Scotland on Sunday) while her work remains grounded in emotional honesty rather than any single genre. Winner of the Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections in 2020, she has built a growing presence across Scotland, with regular radio play and a sold-out tour following her 2025 project Seaglass. “Cinnamon Skies” marks the next chapter in an evolving and increasingly confident musical journey.
