Principal's Message
Lake Pleasant Families,
I hope all our students had a wonderful week of learning. No doubt our classrooms have established their routines and expectations, and our teachers are beginning to design amazing learning experiences to personalize learning for all our students.
This week I would like to share the importance of instilling perseverance in our students. Encouraging perseverance in learning is of utmost importance in the elementary years, as it lays the foundation for a lifetime of success. Our students must develop the ability to persevere, to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. When students face academic obstacles, whether it's mastering a new math concept or tackling a complex science project, the willingness to persist fosters resilience and builds confidence. As principal, I am dedicated to fostering an environment where students understand that mistakes are stepping stones to learning, and with determination, hard work, and a growth mindset, they can overcome any hurdle. By nurturing perseverance, we equip our young learners with the tools they need to flourish not only in their academic endeavors but also in all aspects of their lives.
As we travel through this school year, should your child begin to express some frustrations with learning such as “I don’t get this”, please remind them of my favorite word “Yet”. They simply need to add it to the end of that statement: “I don’t get this...YET!” 😊
Have a great week Silverhawks!

Please mark your calendars for our Fall Picture Days!
PLEASE WELCOME OFFICER WROBLEWSKI OUR SCHOOL LIASON OFFICER!
We are excited to partner with the Peoria Police Department as they have dedicated a few officers to provide assistance to all elementary schools that reside within the City of Peoria. You may have seen Officer Wroblewski's Police Cruiser in front of campus these past few weeks. He will be be randomly checking in with all of his schools including Lake Pleasant frequently. We are so excited to have this resource available to us as we continue to prioritize having a safe and welcoming school environment!
Please take a moment to get to know our new SLO!
NEW ARRIVAL/DROP-OFF BAYS HAVE BEEN PAINTED!
We hope these new drop off and pick up bays will assist us in improving our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please pull up to the furthest open bay to allow as many students as we can to load at the same time. Students will be standing on the number on the sidewalk to allow easy entry to your vehicle. This procedure is for both student loading areas.
PARKING DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
When visiting our campus during the school day, please park in the main parking lot and utilize the crosswalk to get to the office. The drop off areas seen above need to remain clear as we need to keep this area clear for a fire lane while school is in session.
DONATIONS REQUESTED FOR OUR "SOAR" STORE
At LPE we do our best to identify and reward students for their positive behaviors by giving them "SOAR" cards. S.O.A.R. is an acronym for "Safe, Organized, Aware, Responsible". When students are caught by staff "SOAR"ing they are given a card that they can redeem at the SOAR store. We are currently getting the store stocked and would love for those in our community who are able to donate items towards this store. Please take a look at the items on the Amazon Wish list or we could use food items such as chips, cookies, Gatorade etc.
The store is organized and run by some of our Junior High students along with some teacher sponsors. We are able to provide many real life learning opportunities through this program. Thanks in advance for supporting this program!

CUP STACKING IN 3RD GRADE
Last week students in Mrs. Prazak's class, students worked hard at using their problem solving skills by stacking cups without touching them their hands. They did a great job cooperating in groups! Look at all the awesome teamwork happening in these pictures!
SAVING FRED IN 3RD GRADE
3rd graders had a blast working on a fun STEM project together in groups. The STEM project was Save Fred! To save Fred (a gummy worm) students have to work together to free Fred's life preserver (a gummy life saver) from under his capsized boat (a cup). Touching only the paper clips, students must rescue Fred from "drowning." Look at all the fun our 3rd graders had! Way to go Silverhawks!
TRYOUTS THIS WEEK
Baseball and Softball tryouts have been going great and so is spirtline clinics! Look at all our amazing student athletes showing up and working hard. We are so proud of all of them!

Ms. Bubash's class had some special time with Mrs. Oxendale too! She came in for story time with the class. Look at how much they all enjoyed it!
HANDS ON LEARNING IN 6TH GRADE
6th Grade ELA classes were engaged in a hands on learning opportunity last week. Students listened the book, The Day You Begin, and to get to know one each other, students built an item out of playdoh that represents themselves and shared it with the class.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL NURSE
Hello LPE Families,
The Arizona Department of Health Services has recently updated their exemption forms for immunizations. When forms are updated it is required that the new forms be filled out, even if you have previously completed the earlier versions of these forms. If you have completed immunization exemption forms in the past due to personal beliefs, religion beliefs or due to medical exemption, please fill out the new attached forms and submit them to the health office. You will only need to fill them out once, these do not need to be filled out annually.
Thank you!
