On Tuesday afternoon, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Valley Dr. towards Bayshore when the driver lost control of his vehicle, causing him to go up the sidewalk and hit a pole. Fortunately, no one was hurt, including the driver. Amazing response by BPD, Fire, and Public Works with the lane back open within the hour.

Housing Element Decertification FAQs
As you may have heard, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) last week rescinded certification of the City's Housing Element until such time as the City approves a Baylands Specific Plan and associated rezoning. Read the press release here. Staff has prepared a special FAQ document to answer your questions about the recent HCD action. You can find a printer-friendly version of the FAQs on the Baylands project page, brisbaneca.gov/baylands, as well as view our full Baylands FAQs here.

Two New Stop Signs Coming to Visitacion Ave.
As part of the traffic safety improvements review over the past year on Visitacion Avenue, the City will be moving forward with the conversion of Visitacion Avenue/Mariposa Street and Visitacion Avenue/Mendocino Street to all-way stop intersections. This means one [RY1.1] new stop sign will be installed on Visitacion Avenue in each direction of travel at both intersections. The new stop signs are intended to support the City’s ongoing efforts to improve safety, calm traffic, and encourage all modes of transportation in Brisbane.
Based on Complete Streets Safety Committee (CSSC) recommendations, community feedback, and City Council approval at their April 2nd meeting, the Public Works Department worked with Krupka Consulting to perform an all-way stop study at the selected intersections along Visitacion Avenue. The study evaluated traffic volumes, safety conditions, and sight distances to determine whether additional stop control was warranted.
Per the findings, the study recommended installing all-way stop control at both intersections. The City will perform on-going public outreach regarding the change and install introductory signage at both locations to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible. The additional improvements approved at the April 2nd City Council Meeting may be installed at a later time. Questions can be directed to Tomas Santoyo-Velazquez, Assistant Engineer at tsantoyo@brisbaneca.org.

New Solar-Powered Jackerys for Our Elderly Liveaboards at the Marina
Funded by our internal Innovation Team and organized with the efforts of Harbormaster Andrew Rehberg, Parks and Rec Supervisor Nicole Houghton, and Management Analyst Mollie Brown, the City is excited to share the news of our two new solar-powered Jackerys!
Aligned with the City's age-friendly and emergency preparedness efforts, these solar generators are intended to be loaned out to our elderly liveaboards at the Marina who may occasionally lose power to their vessel due to high tides, inclement weather, or flooding. These generators will provide power for critical needs such as lighting, keeping food cold in a refrigerator, cooking, heating the vessel, charging devices like phones and laptops, and more.
