Spring Term 1

We have had such a busy half term in school! Christmas seems like a long time ago and we can't believe that we are at the end of the half term.

We are delighted with how much progress everyone is making and we are looking forward to sharing this with you at Parents and Carers' Evenings.

We have some news and information below and there is an updated dates list attached to your email.

I hope that you all have a lovely half term holiday with some time to rest and recharge! Thank you for all of your support this half term.

Car Park and Parking

The building of Great Park Academy is now well under way and you will have noticed that the access to GPA site and HFS site is now being managed. Some parents and carers have expressed frustration at not being allowed on site to park. Please note that the car park is accessible to parents, carers and visitors until it is full. When all of the bays are in use, it is unsafe to park anywhere else in the car park and so access stops. School is not responsible for and cannot control traffic off site but we ask you to please park safely, legally and with respect to others when you are parking in the area around school.

We are continuing to ask for the completion of the pedestrian access to the Park and Ride. This is long overdue and we have been pushing for this since moving into the school.

We will keep you up to date. In the meantime, please feel welcome to express your views and concerns to NGP using the link below:

Lord Mayor Design Award 2024

We are delighted that the school has been shortlisted for the Newcastle Lord Mayor Design Award 2024. We have a panel of judges coming to school after the half term holiday and we know that they will be very impressed with our fantastic site and building. We will keep you up to date with our progress!

Staffing News

Thanks to Miss Boal who has worked with us as a teaching assistant in Year 2 since September. Miss Boal is a qualified teacher and she now wants to pursue working in that role in other schools. She has got to know all of the children well and has helped many children in Year 2 to make good progress this year. Good luck Miss Boal!

We are in the process of recruiting and hope to share news of a new staff member with you soon.

Parents and Carers' Evenings

These are taking place on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th March. The booking system will go live on ParentMail on Monday 26th February at 5pm. Make sure you get booked in. If you can't make those dates, contact the office or your child's class teacher and we will make alternative arrangements for you.

Lego Donations

If you have any Lego which your children no longer use, we would be very grateful to take it off your hands! This will help us to provide some alternative and some calming activities for individual children and small groups right across school at different times of the day.

If you are able to part with any Lego, please bring it to the school office.

Thank you!

GST Photograph Competition

Please see below for details of the GST Signs of Spring Competition. This looks like great fun for the children when they are out about! You can email pictures to school as well as hand them in to the office. We will try to tweet as many as possible so that everyone can see the children's pictures.

World Book Day

Mrs Jones is sending everyone a separate letter about world Book Day. In the meantime, make note of the date and get some pyjamas ready! We will all be coming to school in our pyjamas for a day of 'bedtime' stories!

February Photo Gallery

We have had an amazing half term with so much learning and so much fun! From sculpture in art to writing non fiction texts in English - and everything in between...
