Headteacher Comment
It's a very warm welcome back to the new school year. As usual the children have come back to school, raring to go and so have their lucky staff. I was delighted to see that every effort has been made by teachers, teaching assistants, and all the families who have prepared the school and the children well for their return and for a busy year ahead.
I'd like to thank you for your patience while we have set up the new payment system over the holidays. I know the office staff have been very helpful with your enquiries and I would encourage you to please do seek help if you are finding any difficulties with the system.
If you have not already read it, the Jigsaw newsletter was sent out yesterday. Thank you to Miss Mitchell for creating this to share with the everyone so that we all are clear about our PSHE themes and assemblies this term. I am very excited that we are developing a 'Character Curriculum' this year to help all our children be the best people they can be in the world around them, beyond school, as well as achieving their very best.
Thank you for your continued support - have a lovely weekend

The Papaya that Spoke
In Excellent Elephants, we have started learning our new Talk4Writing text 'The Papaya that Spoke'. This week, the children got to explore the papaya. They described what it looked like, felt like, smelt like and even what it tasted like! Everyone used some brilliant adjectives to describe the papaya.
Input and Output
Year Three learnt about inputs and outputs in Computing this week. They discovered that when something is put into a computer a process takes place and this is how what they see on the screen appears. The children tried it with some of their maths knowledge and created their own input and output designs.

Reception Children Explore
This week the children in Reception have settled in well and enjoyed exploring the different area, such as the hairdressers, the construction area and message area. It was also lovely to see so many parents join their children for our first book and biscuit.
Year Four Go on an Adventure at Sandy Cove
Year Four had an amazing writing hook day on Wednesday. The children took a flight with the attendant Miss M and they arrived on the beach where they made sand angels, Sand castles and jumped the waves. Amidst the excitement, Jacob discovered a hidden torch and a strange black box wrapped in plastic. They gathered round and as they examined the box, a disheveled figure appeared, yelling that they must put the box down as it was his!
Ice Forest visit for Year Five
Year Five took a trip to the Ice Forest this week for their new Talk4Writing unit! The children had so much fun exploring and finding out what happened to Karl.
Year Six Enjoying the Sun
Year Six are already pushing their abilities this year, including at Basketball.
Mapping Skills
In Year One this week The children have been using aerial photographs and maps of the school to find their way around. They also used their skills to create their own maps of the playground.

These have been updated for the classes in 2023-24, so click on the link for the class you will be in in September.
Teachers always look forward to posting their ‘Flippin' Greenfields’ videos every Friday next term in time for the weekend. Each one is all about next week’s learning, so will get your child prepared for a flying start on Monday. Research shows that children who feel prepared for the coming week are less anxious about school, happier to get up and go on a Monday morning and achieve better than those who are not.
