Anti-Bullying Week 2024

Last week was the Anti Bullying Alliance Anti-Bullying Week in the UK. We marked this by talking about what we know about bullying - what it is and what it isn't - as well as how we can get help if we think we or someone we know is a victim of bullying. Most importantly, we talked about how we can 'Choose Respect' to make our school a place where everyone can play and learn together.

We will be continuing to talk about this through the year and we will be talking about choosing respect and being kind in lots of different contexts and situations at school, home and when we are out and about.

Outdoor PE

We will be outside for PE as usual, even in this cold weather! Once children are moving around, they warm up quickly, but we still advise that they all have some joggers and a sweatshirt (or something similar) in their kit so that they can wrap up. Please make sure that your children are ready for chilly PE lessons outside. As always - remember to label/name all items of clothing which you send into school. Thank you.

Greggs' Cancer Run

We were delighted to receive a certificate from Children's Cancer North recently - we raised £4,296.13 by running together in May and through everyone's fundraising efforts.

Well done to everyone who took part and look out for news of how to register for next year - we will let you know as soon as school registration is open.

PTFA News

Thanks to everyone who attended the PTFA meeting last week. it was great to see so many of you there and to hear new ideas. We really appreciated your commitment and are looking forward to the Christmas Fair on Monday 16th December from 3.30pm - 5.00pm.

In other PTFA news, we now have the final amount raisied from the PTFA spnsored Bounce. It is a whopping £2,417.75.

Thanks to everyone who helped and who donated. We are busy making plans to spend some of our hard earned PTFA funds and we have some ideas which we will be sharing at the next PTFA meeting on Monday 25th November at 7.00pm. This meeting is for Christmas Fair planning, all welcome!

Net Zero Event at Civic Centre

Two of our Y4 children represented us at the Net Zero event at the Civic Centre on Thursday 7th November.

This was due to our involvement in the Eat Smart project and following the work of the Y4 lunch time helpers and the Eco Warriors. It was a busy day of networking, learning and a delicious lunch! Thanks to Mrs Francisco who accompanied the children and reported back that they were fantastic ambassadors for our school family!

Falcons Rugby Winner

Our Falcons Rugby Winner is Flossy in Year 2! Congratulations to Flossy - we all hope you have a great night tonight at the game. If any of you are going tonight, look out for Flossy as she is going to be a team mascot! What a great opportunity and a very worthy winner!

Team Talent Afternoon

Next Friday afternoon, children will be spending some time in mixed aged groups taking part in activities which are different to our usual curriculum lessons. All children will be allocated to groups and activities which their teachers think will appeal to them. Groups such as the School Council, Digi Leaders, Play Leaders, Kindness Ambassadors, Reading Ambassadors and Eco Warriors will also be getting together to complete important tasks. This afternoon is an opportunity for children to work with children from other classes and build their interests and confidence in school. School staff will be leading the groups and we expect the afternoon to be very industrious and fun! We are even planning on making things for the Christmas Fair - watch this space!

Car Park Manners

We have been informed by Galliford Try that some of our parents and carers have been rude and aggressive towards their employees who are helping us to keep the car park safe. There have even been been reports of offensive and abusive language being used when the gates have been closed because the car park is full.

This is not only completely unacceptable, but has made Galliford Try question whether they should be providing their services to us. Attending the gates and helping us to keep the car park safe at pick up and drop off times is a service which they are providing as a courtesy to school.

If the gates are shut, this is because all of the parking spaces are in use and to park anywhere else could be a threat to safety for other car park users, including children.

Please treat everyone in and around our school with the respect which they deserve. This is what we teach our children and we expect the adults in the school community to be good role models. Thank you for your support.

Achievers

Last week's picture didn't make it to Twitter, so here it is for everyone to see! We are so proud of our Achievers every week - they are chosen for so many different reasons and are all Havannah Heroes!

Children in Need

We had a great day in school to mark Children in Need. It's always great to see the Pudsey ears and lots of spots. It's not too late to donate directly through the CiN website.

Robinwood Residential for Y4

The Y4 children who went to Robinwood had a fantastic adventure! They worked together to complete challenges, conquer their fears and build their confidence. It was a hugely successful trip and we were very proud of everyone. Below are some pictures to highlight their adventures...

Outdoor Learning

We have been enjoying using all of our amazing outdoor learning spaces this half term and everyone enjoyed Outdoor Classroom Day on Thursday 7th November. Being in daylight outside has an enormous positive impact on our well being and our learning!
