Reporting to Parents/Carers Georgetown Primary School

Why?

We have recently reviewed how we report to parent/carers. We thank parents/carers for engaging and for the feedback we have received, we really do value the contributions and act upon any feedback where we can. We have consulted Welsh Government guidance to ensure we are fulfilling statutory guidance and have made amendments inline with learners/staff and parental feedback. At Georgetown we believe relationships with parents/carers is a pivotal role in caring for and nurturing each and every learner and that this is vital when looking at learner progress. Parents/carers are entitled to one 10 minute meeting per academic year to discuss progress and an annual written report. Feedback to parents/carers should include: a brief summary about a learners progress in learning, information about future progression needs/next steps for the individual learner required to support their progression, brief advice on how parents/carers can support progression at home and information on a learners general health and well-being.

How we communicate with parents/carers is key.

We are accessible each morning and afternoon on the entrances around the school, we are accessible through messages on ClassDojo and only a phone call away via the office. Our lines of communication are something we are proud of and progress/concerns can be shared and aired at anytime. If staff at Georgetown have concerns over progress parents/carers are contacted by Class Teachers at the first opportunity. We celebrate success in progress through in class recognition and through our weekly Celebration Assembly.

What will reporting to parents/carers look like in 2023/24 at Georgetown?

Autumn Term will be a face to face or telephone consultation. This will be 10 minutes long and will be a discussion with the learners class teacher, this will focus upon learners wellbeing, progress and how parents/carers can help at home.

Spring Term we will offer learner showcases where parents/carers will be invited into school to discuss learners progress with the learners, they will view samples of books and digital evidence of progress. Staff will be on hand throughout the session to discuss progress with parents/carers.

Summer Term will be the term where we provide an annual written report to parents/carers. The report will focus upon learners general wellbeing and literacy, numeracy and digital progress. Learners next steps will be reported to guide them to make future progress and guidance on how parents/carers can help at home will also be provided.

Please remember our doors at Georgetown are open at anytime to discuss progress and if/when parents/carers need help or support.
