FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

Our two-day week ended on a high note (shoutout to TEAM FAITH for hosting a great assembly on Friday) despite a chilly start. Last week did not start out at all the way we planned, but we were able to jump right back in. In frustrating times, it helps to remember that God's plan is greater than our understanding. His purpose unfolds in mysterious and beautiful ways...and in His time, not ours. Our efforts, no matter how diligent, are only a small part of this. We all need those reminders to trust in Him and be guided by faith rather than relying on our own plans and desires. In every challenge, let us find an opportunity to demonstrate the resilience that comes from placing our trust in God's unfailing love.

Grace and Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths."

The National School Lunch Program & School Breakfast Program under USDA direction does not allow for "charging" of meals. Please be sure that your child has sufficient funds in his/her account. Though a child will never be denied a meal, payment from the parent will be expected the next business day.

Please use the button below for links to online payments, applications for free/reduced meals, updated menus, etc. Checks also can be made out to the school's cafeteria and sent with your child to school. Please take a moment to log in to your MySchoolBucks account, check your balance, and take care of any outstanding payments.

Mardi Gras PBL Parade Day Information

Every spring, leading up to the Mardi Gras break, our students take part in a project-based learning unit linked to a school-wide theme. Each class comes up with a driving question to research, collaborate, and construct a solution to an authentic problem. The unit is connected to content standards and takes 2-3 weeks to complete. At the end of the unit, each class celebrates with a Mardi Gras parade showcasing their theme. Please join us at our annual Mardi Gras event as we 'Parade through the Parishes!'

Dear Bluejay Family,

This week was another shortened one for SCS sports. Our sports events and games were “frozen” by Mother Nature on Monday through Thursday of this week. Our boys and girls returned to action on the hardwood on Thursday. We also honored our 8th grade soccer players just before the 8th grade basketball game. On Saturday, our Bluejays played in the postseason tournament for the soccer league. The Varsity Boys fought hard, but came up short to a very talented St. Genevieve team. The Junior Varsity Girls beat a very tough Cathedral Carmel team on a penalty kick to win the game. They then lost a heartbreaker to Fatima. Our soccer programs here are growing, and there is much to be excited about in years to come. Our younger players and coaches have come very far in a short period of time to make us all very proud. Special thanks to Coaches Clint Breaux, Corey Landry, Mike Migues, Jason Maynard, and Brittany Broussard for their dedication and time spent with the kids!

We are happy to announce that all of our basketball teams will be participating in postseason play during the week of January 29th. SCS will be hosting the 6th grade girls Division II and III combined tournament. Details will follow about the others once the brackets and sites are released. Baseball and softball registration has closed and we are in the process of getting the kids on the practice field once basketball season is over. The tentative schedule for the rest of the season is as follows:

  • Swimming- March 9th to May 3rd
  • Golf- March 26th to May 9th
  • Track- April 2nd to May 10th
  • Tennis– April 4th to May 9th
Thursday, January 18th
  • 5th Grade Boys Basketball vs. ESA- L
  • 6th Grade Boys Basketball vs. ESA- L
  • 7th Grade Boys Basketball vs. ESA- W
  • 8th Grade Boys Basketball vs. ESA- W
  • 6th Grade Girls Basketball vs. Rayne Catholic- L
Saturday, January 20th
  • Boys Varsity Soccer vs. St. Genevieve- L
  • Girls JV Soccer vs. Cathedral- W
  • Girls JV Soccer vs. Fatima- L

We are so proud of our SCS 7/8th Grade football, 5th Grade White and 7th Grade volleyball teams' fantastic accomplishments this fall. We can now officially celebrate our championships in volleyball and football by purchasing apparel from Action Specialties. These are school approved and can be worn as part of the school uniform. There is a tab on the top horizontal bar for championship apparel. Thanks again for your support of SCS Athletics!
