Trip 2, Part 2: Planters and Downpours and Toilets - Oh My!
Part 2 started with an even bigger skip being delivered. Shortly after that arrived, the wind, rain, and cold set in. We were determined to get the public right of way cleared. We threw out the old sky light and rubble bags, then set to work on the stairs and the broken toilet.
It is clear the skip guy is accustomed to awkward, small spaces. We are on a single-lane road with just enough room for a parking space in front of the chapel. He didn't miss a beat swapping the skips - and no damaged was incurred.
Here is a time lapse of the skip being filled and the various weather that we enjoyed.
Midwales is a microclimate, so you can't really count on the forecast, and you can't make plans based on what it looks like outside (or the current conditions). You just have to go about your day and hope the weather cooperates. I like wind and rain, and although I'm photosensitive, I rarely have to wear my sunglasses in Wales. It's a nice climate for me. It also rarely gets hot (central air is a rarity), and "cold" is broaching freezing and doesn't last long. I did warn Greg the weather we experienced was not the norm. There were many days of sunshine while we were there - unusual but lovely.
Amy Cleans the Stairs!
When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I found myself in a cloud of dust and realized I needed protective gear. I ditched my glasses for a mask and did the remainder "blind." We later got a shop vac, which would have been a much better choice, at least to start the project. I hope viewers find the cleaning video oddly satisfying like I did.
I carry a toilet
Greg was the definition of resilience through the toilet project. And I managed to walk backwards without injuring myself!
I love how the rain was dripping behind the dragon and the light was filtering in. I can't wait to someday sit on a couch looking out this window on a rainy day like this.
Peace out, my beautifully packed, upsized skip. Had a great time hanging out.
