Half Term 5 - April 2026

SLT Update

It has been lovely to welcome back students after the Easter break and I have enjoyed hearing of the activities they partook in over the two weeks.  Revision season is in full swing with the Year 11s on countdown to their first exams with the Drama students having undertaken their practical exam today.  We are very proud of how they  have conducted themselves and the effort they have put into their production.  It is the turn of the Art students next week and we wish them luck for their two day practical.     Please  can you ensure that your child has their CRA6 with them each day and they have completed their homework.  Year 10 and 11 have an additional piece of homework for each subject and it is really important that this is completed to enable them to consolidate their learning.  We thank you for your support with this.   I hope that you have a lovely weekend.

Miss Milligan, Principal

The Volunteer Police Cadets is a nationally recognised, police uniformed youth group, open to teenagers from all backgrounds aged between 13 and 18. It aims to promote a practical understanding of policing, to encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship and to inspire young people to participate positively in their communities.     In Lincolnshire our cadets are supported by police officers, police staff, and adult volunteers who give their time to share their knowledge and expertise of policing and their local communities.     Cadet sessions are run every Wednesday evening during school term times at the following police stations across Lincolnshire: Lincoln, Boston, Bourne, Spalding, Grantham and Skegness.    Please find enclosed a leaflet to promote our upcoming recruitment campaign which opens April 1st and closes on May 13th, 2026.

Leave of absence request

A Principal can only authorise a leave of absence in exceptional circumstances. We will take into account the Government guidance when considering what the exceptional circumstances are- all applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. You may be able to take your child out of school in exceptional circumstances, providing an application is made in advance by the parent/carer, this request complies with Government guidance and the leave is deemed to be ‘exceptional’ by the Principal.

If you take a leave of absence without our permission or if your child fails to return by the agreed date if permission was granted, then this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and noted in your child’s record. You might also be issued with a fixed penalty notice for this absence. If your child has not returned within 10 days of the expected date of return then, after consultation with the Local Authority, we may take your child off our school roll.

As examples, the following reasons are not considered to be exceptional circumstances:

  • availability of cheap holidays
  • periods overlapping with beginning or end of term
  • visits to family
  • renewing passports

Requests for leave of absence will only be considered if made in writing. Please ensure you use the leave of absence request form to do this.

In 2026, they are aiming to make it bigger and better than ever before.
