Grief Process Gathering at City Hall, 3/10
We would like to invite the community to a Grief Process Gathering with counselors from Kara - a Palo Alto-based nonprofit organization that provides grief counseling, training and education, and information/referral services to adults, children, families, and organizations coping with loss and bereavement.
On Friday, February 8th, the Brisbane Police Department responded to a critical collision outside Midtown Market. There were some residents who witnessed the incident and many others who came quickly following it to render aid to the mother and her daughter.
During a 1.5-hr. Grief Process Gathering, participants will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about what happened, to learn about grief and loss, and talk about ways to be supportive and empathetic with neighbors, family members, and ourselves in times of grief.
The session will be held on Monday, March 10th from 7 - 8:30 PM in the Community Meeting Room at City Hall (50 Park Place). If you're unable to attend that evening, we hope that you're able to take a look at the below resources provided below by Kara:

Warm Welcome to Brisbane’s Next Assistant City Manager, Christina Fernandez
I am thrilled to announce the appointment of Christina Fernandez as the City’s new Assistant City Manager. Christina will officially join the team on April 28th, bringing with her over 21 years of leadership experience in municipal government.
Christina arrives from the City of South San Francisco, where she most recently served as Deputy City Manager. During her tenure, she led impactful initiatives, including the formation of an East Highway 101 Community Facilities District (CFD). The $180 million CFD portfolio, which invests in critical infrastructure and modernizes the Life Science cluster east of Highway 101, is transformative in enhancing multimodal transportation infrastructure within one of the region's most important economic hubs.
Christina is going to be a key member of the Brisbane team,” said City Manager Jeremy Dennis. “She brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and over two decades of experience working with constituents, intergovernmental agencies, elected officials, and city leaders to deliver meaningful programs, initiatives, and projects. I look forward to seeing her collaborate with our team and contribute to Brisbane’s continued success."
Christina’s previous experience includes serving as Senior Public Policy Associate in Transportation & Land Use for the San Mateo Economic Development Association and as Policy Advisor for the City of San José in the Office of Mayor Chuck Reed.
I’m honored to join the City of Brisbane, a city celebrated for its high quality of life and innovation,” Christina stated. “I am excited to work alongside the city team and the Brisbane community to build on these strengths and continue moving the city forward."
Outside of her professional life, Christina is an avid reader and enjoys watching her children play competitive basketball and softball. These activities provide her with balance and inspire her to work towards fostering strong, vibrant communities.
Christina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from San José State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.
Join us in welcoming Christina to the City of Brisbane!

Peninsula Clean Energy Lowers 2025 Electric Generation Rates
Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) is lowering electric generation charges for customers in San Mateo County throughout at least the coming months, further increasing the existing discount of at least 5% below PG&E's baseline electric generation rate. With this change, customers will now receive at least a 10% discount on generation costs, resulting in the average customer electricity bill decreasing by roughly $7 and potentially up to $20 or more in some areas and among higher energy users.
For information about PCE's energy programs and more ways to reduce your energy costs, visit PenCleanEnergy.com/lowerbill.
