Sierra Caravarin MOVEMENT ARTIST

Sierra - On the meaning & power of Movement

I found my first community and home in dance at the age of 7, where I came under the teachings of Heidi Asefvaziri. This was a refuge I so deeply needed. A practice of harnessing, moving, and releasing emotions.

Yoga came into my life as a remembrance and gateway into what dance gave to me. At this time, I was battling a physical illness. Practice by practice, coming into my body felt more and more tangible. Healing was suddenly an ability I could begin to cultivate and nourish bit by bit. I am so humbled, and feel so grateful to be able to touch the surface of such an ancient & sacred practice. It is a true gift.

Finding mentors and teachers of these beautiful crafts is precious. The power of transmission is invaluable. I pay this forth with so much love and have created and a dance group that serves the Indigenous youth and families in our area. We use our Native roots as remembrance and embodiment of our power and potential.
