Mod News
Highlights and statements
Welcome to the first edition of the Ninja Scrolls! The official MOD RUN paper.
Your monthly source for news from the mods.
This past while has been a whirlwind and in some ways our heads are still spinning. However our boots are back on the ground and now we have our writing hats on, and I have some hot chocolate. For the first edition I'd like to introduce the mod team, however before we get to that I'd like to make a special announcement or two.
First, on popular demand, the discord now has a fun RP channel right below the general chat for all you ninja, pirates and fleet admirals. So go ahead, throw some bar stools, captain some ships and sign some suspicious...ly wonderful contracts!
Second, I'd like to mention a new survey that has been posted on the news page! If you have any thoughts, opinions, or suggestions for TNR click the link on the news page. It will be open for 2 weeks after it was posted.
Last I want to shout out to Monami and her writers. Her paper is an inspiration and I can't wait to read the next edition! (go read her paper!)
And now for the regularly scheduled mod feature:
An Introduction to the Mod Staff:
Aven:
“Hello! I'm Aven! I've been around since Core 1, Konoki was my village and I was heavily on the rp side of the game back then, Perma Genin (like my mod account now)
I'm on the newer mods to join the team, and my original village in this Core was Current, but I have enjoyed moving to different villages and chatting with everyone in the Global Tavern.
I would describe myself as.. a little crazy, my sleep schedule definitely proves that.. Bubbly and pretty easy going. If you've ever got questions or concerns you can always come to me! I'm always happy to listen and help if I can.
My player account is in Shine, a lot of you have probably seen her running around doing PvP! Or in the hospital after getting beat up.. I'm Aussie, so I'm used to things trying to kill me. 😜
In my free time I like to sketch, sing badly, read and write. I like to write fantasy, who could have guessed, and have written quite a few songs that I don't think anyone will ever hear but I write them anyway!
I look forward to seeing where the game, and its players will go from here ^^”
Kamch1n:
“KAMCH1N is here. I am your friendly moderator from the United States. I have been playing TNR for over 15 years and am beyond excited to be a part of staff for core 4. Naruto was my favorite anime/manga growing up so this game is something I have always enjoyed being a part of. “
Mituche:
“Something about me? Im just a mexican ninja, Silence OG who enjoys American Football and not to fall on typical stereotype but I do love tacos. Been on TNR for like 16-18 years on and off and will talk about One Piece for hours if u bring up the topic. Married a non otaku girl so that when we have kids they’ll become lil otakus and she will have to join us”
Imperius:
"Greetings and Salutations, I am Imperius. I'm the quiet one. An akward mix of shy and friendly, I tend to stay out of the limelight but I do make an appearance when I'm needed. An old Konoki soul from C1 to present day, I enjoy working with the members of Seichi and staff who try to make the game enjoyable for everyone. I may not be well-known but I never shy away from a friendly greeting or providing a hello from time to time. A guitarist at heart, I enjoy music, relaxing, and walking the beach in my cosy town in Florida, USA, granted there aren't any hurricanes trying to blow me away. I'm always free to chat, so please feel free to reach out with anything you want to need, even if it's just a hello!"
Grammardor:
"Hi, I'm Grammardor. I like karaoke, Dungeons & Dragons, Dead by Daylight and punching people into Black Holes. I was a Moderator from November 2009 to June 2013 and then Head Moderator (not to be confused with Head_moderator) from June 2013 to October 2014 in Core 2. Outside the internet, I work as an IT professional. Please make sure you turn it off and back on again before calling me."
Teni:
“Born in current in c1, moved to shine in c2, and have been in Shine ever since until I started travelling for mod work a couple of months ago. I came here to praise the sun and eat marshmallows...and there's tons of both! I've been long known as the Marshmallow Queen, cause marshmallows are awesome. How many times can I say marshmallow? In c3 I was one of the writers on the Shine Sandworm, and then I moved on to making TNR Facebook posts as staff, and helped make one of the c3 discords. Then terr gave me the discord hat in pre-alpha c4 and here I am. I love purple and green, Lord of the Rings, DnD, Bg3, Harley Quinn... oh, and marshmallows. XD “
*******
And there you have our introductions! Have any other questions? Message us! Ask us if you see us in the tavern or on discord! Even if it's only to ask the velocity of an unladen squirrel.
Until next time!

Shine Spotlight
A recent interview with some of Shine’s up and coming Jonin
By: trendkill
UnnamedSG:
What is your favorite memory from your journey so far?
Oh hi there, fantastic opening question, off the bat I'd say my favorite memory in Seichi would be the first time I beat the Titan fight, a culmination of hype, expectation paying off, and satisfaction after several attempts, followed up by recognition and congratulations by the community.
Which peers or friends had really positive influences on you? Why?
When it comes to peers and friends, there’s been several of them that have been really great to know, like Kieto and Ryo introducing and helping me out as much as they did, alongside the rest of Shine and even other villages of people too numerous to mention all answering questions accurately and quickly, as well as opening the doors towards integrating with the community at large.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to Students/Genin/Chunin?
Another fantastic question, I would definitely say that the best advice I could give to everyone is to say hi in the taverns, ask any questions you may have, or if there’s any advice anyone wants to give, and to join the official TNR Discord, as well as their respective village Discords, the community is what makes this world entertaining and worth coming back and back again for.
What are you most excited about in this next phase of your journey?
What I'm looking forward to in the future? hopefully seeing my student join the discords, or to be more socially active, and I'm hoping to convince others to try the game out too
Gooby:
A small Dojo sits among the houses of Shine, rather innocuous in its construction and intentions. Inside, a half dozen or so warriors, clad in samurai kimono, trained in privacy... Well, mostly private.
Gooby looked upon the curious reporter and offered a cheerful grin. "What am I looking forward to the most? Well, the implementation of proper, full scale war within the lands of Seichi, of course! It will be satisfying to have a more... lasting impact on our enemies."
His gaze had shifted to the flames of the nearby fireplace, that grin having morphed into something more malevolent. The Swordsman Who Always Smiles? Yeesh, what a name. "Advice for students... mmmm... There's no such thing as a dumb question, and I mean that genuinely. Everybody's mind is its own maze to navigate. Information can be interpreted subjectively, and NOTHING in the world has ever been understood by every person who ever looked at it. Ask questions. Lots of questions." The samurai ninja turned towards the reporter, "Now, off you go. You are delaying our training." The reporter is ushered out the door at a rapid pace, and soon, the sounds of training can be heard from within.
Scorpio:
Hi, I play this game for a long time, to me two best era's was core 2 and core 3 at beginning. When core 3 was rework jutsu that is time when i stop playing it (for evry jutsu you need to use some weapon, for ex you need to use fan for genjutsu it is not how it should work). Right now this core is ok, traveling system is a little bit complicated it should be a simpler. Battles are much improved which is very nice and I like it.
For new players I have simple advice: as soon as you start the game roll for bloodline, this will help you decide what offense to use. Use only one offence and become genin as fast as you can. When become genin take your time don't rush.
Cap all your stats as genin, complete all your missions every day. Cap only one off and all def and all generals. As genin dont train jutsu to high lvl, train it up to lvl 5 to reduce chakra and stamina usage, and buy one weapon that you can use every round in battle. When you cap all stats decide which rank will you stick with is it chuunin or jounin (also because of jutsu you will use later on the game). Try to earn and save as much ryo as you can for armor, weapons and items. When reach rank you read about all jutsu you can use and pick them carfelly, then train them to max rank that you can.
Tsukimori Spotlight
Rising from Ashes: The Rebirth of the Tsukimori Navy
Byline: Cypher
In the once-thriving Hidden Village of Tsukimori, a chapter of history has closed, only to give rise to a new story of resilience and unity. Following the dismantling of the Tsukimori Navy by the old regime, a movement to rebuild has emerged, driven not by mandates, but by the collective will of the people.
The destruction of the Navy was a severe blow to the village, leaving its defenses and spirit fractured. Yet, from the shadows of this upheaval, the citizens have risen, refusing to let their legacy sink into obscurity. Leading this charge is none other than Maeglin, revered Local Forgemaster of Tsukimori and leader of clan Shokunin Gaikōkan. Known for his mastery in crafting both weapons and now hope, Maeglin has taken it upon himself to rally the community and ignite a spark of action.
“It’s not just about rebuilding ships—It's every citizens duty to protect those who protect the village!” Maeglin shared in an impassioned speech at the village square. “I just hope others will follow my example.” As he finished and began heading straight for the Tsukimori dock to start his mission. He yelled out "All members of Shokunin Gaikōkan please check the new clan orders!"
Admirals Paschar and Phrosfire, former leaders of the Navy, have expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support from neighbors and allies alike. In an emotional moment, Admiral Phrosfire remarked, “I'm so damn proud of you.” While a single tear rolled down his cheek.
In an unexpected yet uplifting display of solidarity, even the Tsukimori Police Department's very own Officer Forky joined the movement with a unique touch: an impromptu rendition of “In the Navy,” the classic song that echoed through the streets. Their voices brought smiles and laughter, lifting spirits and uniting hearts.
The rebuilding process, while in its infancy, is already showing promise. Shipbuilding has resumed with local craftsmen and volunteers dedicating their time and skills to the effort. Citizens of all ages have flocked to the docks to lend a hand, whether by carrying supplies, cooking meals for workers, or simply offering words of encouragement.
While the road ahead remains long, Tsukimori’s resolve is undeniable. With leaders like Maeglin at the helm, guided by the enduring support of Admirals Paschar and Phrosfire, the Navy's revival is not just a dream but an impending reality.
As the village rebuilds, one thing is clear: the spirit of Tsukimori is unyielding, proving that even in the darkest of times, the light of unity and hope can lead the way forward.
Stay tuned for updates on this story and more from the Seichi Times.
A Legacy of Hope: Fated Reunion’s Impact on Tsukimori
By. Paschar
In the heart of Tsukimori, a new era is dawning, shaped by the extraordinary efforts of the legendary Fated Reunion. Known for their unmatched skill and unwavering determination, this coalition of Kage and shinobi from all five great villages united under one banner to change Tsukimori’s future. Their mission was not merely to lead but to transform—a vision born of collaboration and a shared hope for a better world.
Tsukimori had long stood at a crossroads, its future uncertain. Years of isolationist policies and nationalist fervor had turned it into a pariah among the shinobi world. The village’s rigid exclusion of outside cultures and disdain for diversity had alienated its allies and led to the catastrophic World Seichi War—a devastating conflict where the other villages united to bring Tsukimori to heel. Yet, from these ashes, Fated Reunion emerged, determined to reshape the village into a beacon of unity and freedom.
Together, they took the mantle of Kage and began the arduous task of rebuilding Tsukimori. They worked tirelessly to restore the village’s infrastructure, cultivate opportunities for young shinobi, and promote a culture of inclusivity. Fated Reunion’s leadership dismantled the oppressive structures of the past, opening the gates of Tsukimori to new ideas, alliances, and the vibrant exchange of cultures. Their reforms allowed the village to heal from its painful history, ushering in an unprecedented era of peace and prosperity.
Central to their vision was the establishment of the Tsukimori Navy, a bold initiative that symbolized the village’s commitment to reaching beyond its borders. Led by proud figures like Admiral Paschar, the navy represented not just military strength but a desire for exploration, diplomacy, and connection with the broader world. For a time, Tsukimori was a village transformed, its future bright and open.
But when Fated Reunion departed to join the Syndicate, their absence left a void that the old regime was quick to exploit. Seizing power, these remnants of the past wasted no time in undoing the progress made. Their first act was to dismantle the Tsukimori Navy, dismissing it as “stupid” and declaring that they would not allow the term “Catboi” to once again define the village’s identity. This blatant rejection of Tsukimori’s cultural diversity marked a return to the exclusionary ideologies that had once torn the shinobi world apart.
The resurgence of Catboi hate was a stark reminder of Tsukimori’s tumultuous past. This prejudice, rooted in the village’s former nationalist policies, had been a driving force behind the World Seichi War. The other villages had declared war to end Tsukimori’s oppressive ideology and its rejection of any culture that didn’t conform to its rigid standards. Fated Reunion’s efforts had pushed back against this darkness, but the old regime’s return threatened to undo their legacy.
Still, the people of Tsukimori remember Fated Reunion as champions of hope and change. Their time in power serves as a testament to what can be achieved when unity and inclusivity prevail. Even as challenges resurface, their legacy remains a source of inspiration—a reminder that true power lies not in isolation, but in building a future greater than oneself.
User Questions
1. What is the difference between Mod and content staff?
Mods handle exclusively player situations that arise between players, or from the breaking of rules or the ToS. They do not handle bugs, game balance, or events (though we can unstick you!)
Content creates and balances content for the game. This can be creating new AI, jutsu, items, bloodlines etc. They also handle bug reports or issues arising from game mechanics.
2. Will you be hiring more mods?
Yes! We are planning to put up applications after the holidays, so look out for that new post.
3. Why do you ban so much?
We actually don't ban as much as we appear to. Other than bans (usually used for infractions involving game play or excessive situations) we also have silences. Silences are typically used for non game play infractions (such as issues in the tavern, DMs etc.) Silences only prevent a person from chatting in the tavern and communicating, while still allowing a player to play regularly. Casually though, some people refer to silences as bans so there is sometimes confusion.
In addition game bans/silences are different than discord bans/timeouts. If a person is banned on discord, that doesn't necessarily mean they are banned/silenced in game or vice versa. The infractions are tracked differently.
