Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers, I do hope you and your families are keeping well in the extreme heat we have had this week? The pupils in school have coped really well. We have had another good week in school, despite the challenges the very hot and humid weather brings. The staff have today had an INSET day in school; an opportunity to undertake some whole school staff training with a focus on the use of AI in lessons, Performance Management and the final part of our annual ‘TeamTeach’ training, which provides staff with enhanced behaviour management skills. It has been a really useful day in school. I have now attached the Catholic School's Inspection Report to this newsletter. It really is a fantastic read and one we are very proud of. It reflects well on our school community and we are thrilled that we achieved grade 1 'outstanding' in each area of the framework. I'm sure you will enjoy reading the excellent report. We continue now to be busy with our planning for September 2026, ensuring we end the school well on July 24th and in being ready for the new building handover in August. End of Year reports are now being compiled and should be ready to send out in mid-July to all parents and carers. In the remaining 4 weeks left of this final half term we have planned a number of events and activities for pupils to be involved in, which we know the CYP will engage with and enjoy. These include;
- ZINES Literacy Deep learning Day June 30th
- Year 11 Work Experience RHS Bridgewater 1st July
- Year 9 Work Experience 8th and 15th July Holiday Inn
- Year 7 Work Experience at the Lalley Centre 7th July
- D of E Expedition 16th and 17th July
- Leavers Mass and celebration 17th July Chapel 1.30pm
Transition Week 20th July
- End of Year reward trips Monday 20th July (from 10am)
- End of term Mass at St Anne’s Church 10.30am Wednesday 22nd July. Parents are very welcome to join us at the Church.
- KS3 Festival 1.30pm Wednesday 22nd July
- Sports afternoon Thursday 23rd July P4-6
- Summer break starts Friday 24th July at 1.30pm
We are finishing school at 1.30pm on Friday 24th July for the summer break. We are currently liaising with the LEA transport teams, who are being asked to come earlier that day. If there are any issues with transport that day we will inform parents in advance to help to arrange earlier collection of CYP. I hope you have lovely weekend, Yours sincerely, Mr A Moloney, Headteacher

Our Catholic School
Our spiritual focus in SJV this week
"If you love me keep my commandments. A new commandment I give you; is to love one another as I have loved you"
- Jesus
We continue to nurture our Catholic ethos through our weekly staff reflection and Mass, where we come together in prayer to share God’s love, offering one another comfort, strength and support. These moments are a valued part of our week, helping us to reflect and grow together in faith. Class 2 and 6 recently had a very special opportunity to visit Father Nick’s home, the Just Youth Centre, for the first time. The pupils had a wonderful experience, enjoying time away from the usual timetable to reflect on their first year at St John Vianney. It was a joyful and meaningful visit, and we are grateful to Father Nick for welcoming both classes so warmly. As we move towards the end of the school year, we are beginning to prepare for our Leavers’ Mass. This is always a significant and emotional occasion in our school calendar, both a celebration of our students’ achievements and a chance to send them forward with our prayers and blessings. It is truly a bittersweet moment for our whole community. In RE lessons, students continue to explore the theme of God within world religions, an area they themselves chose to study. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm for learning about different faiths and cultures. Key Stage 3 are studying Hinduism, Key Stage 4 are exploring Islam and Key Stage 5 are learning about Buddhism. Across all key stages, students are particularly enjoying learning about the rich variety of religious festivals and traditions, deepening their understanding of the wider world and the importance of respect and inclusion.

Celebrating Our "Outstanding" Catholic Schools Inspection Report
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that St John Vianney RC School has been judged Outstanding in all areas in our recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate report, following the inspection on 3rd and 4th June 2026. We received the highest possible grade; Grade 1 - Outstanding, for Overall Effectiveness, as well as for Catholic Life and Mission, Religious Education, and Collective Worship. Inspectors praised St John Vianney as a school that truly lives its mission by celebrating the gifts of every member of its community. They recognised our unique and highly successful commitment to meeting the specialist needs of our pupils and highlighted the strong partnerships between Church, school and home. The report also noted that Catholic social teaching is at the heart of all we do. The report celebrates our pupils’ kindness, respect, faith and sense of community, describing their behaviour as “first-class.” It also praises the dedication of staff, governors, leaders and our chaplaincy team in creating a nurturing, inclusive and Christ-centred environment, where every young person is valued and encouraged to flourish. In Religious Education, inspectors found that pupils are motivated, curious and well supported to achieve the best possible outcomes. Collective Worship was also recognised as a real strength, with pupils taking part meaningfully in prayer, liturgy, music, scripture and reflection. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful to our pupils, families, staff, governors, chaplaincy team and wider community for their continued support. This Outstanding judgement reflects the faith, care and dedication that make St John Vianney such a special place. Parents and carers can read the full report here: View the Catholic Schools Inspection Report Congratulations to the whole St John Vianney community - Outstanding in every area!

Stay Safe in the Hot Weather
As the temperatures rise, it’s important that everyone in our school community takes extra care to stay safe and healthy in the hot weather. Spending time outdoors can be lots of fun, but too much sun can be harmful. One of the most important ways to protect your skin is by using sun cream. Always apply a high SPF sunscreen (SPF 30 or above) before going outside, and remember to reapply it regularly—especially after playing, sweating, or getting wet. It’s also important to wear a hat to protect your face and head, and light, loose clothing to keep cool. Try to stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day, usually between 11am and 3pm. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated—bring a refillable water bottle to school if you can. Teachers and staff will help make sure everyone stays safe, but we can all do our part by remembering these simple steps. Let’s enjoy the sunny weather while taking care of ourselves and each other! Stay safe and have fun!
