STOMP CONCERTS I hope families availed themselves of the opportunity to visit the school on Tuesday or Wednesday morning to see our students perform a range of dances learned throughout the term with the STOMP Dance Company. I certainly ‘take my hat off’ to all students, as their dancing skills put my two left feet to shame!

TRIVIA NIGHT Great fun was had at the main Term 3 fundraiser last Friday night when the Parents and Friends group organised a very successful trivia night. Sincere and grateful thanks to all members of the committee and everyone who supported the evening which raised a significant amount of money to support our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program room upgrades.

BUILDING WORKS TERM 4 As the new Administration building heads towards completion, and the old/existing one gets readied for demolition there will be the need to close certain access/egress gates throughout the term. ‘Cup Week’ will be a significant benchmark or milestone this term as significant changes will take place around that time in terms of grounds access and, indeed, where to find the General Office!! As always, we will let you know of any changes via this newsletter and Compass, but at this stage grounds access to start Term 4 will very much be an ‘as you were’ situation with Gates 1, 2, 3 and access via the oval in place to start the term.

FINAL ASSEMBLY FOR TERM 3 The final assembly for the term will take place at 2.10pm on Friday, September 15 on the Tiger Turf (weather permitting). Students will be dismissed from that venue to commence a well earned vacation break just on 2.30pm. Student Of The Week awards will be presented at this assembly. Please note the advice from the Victorian School Building Authority (below) with regards school and schoolground access over this vacation break.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Viewbank Primary School for your collective efforts over the term – students, staff and families. There have been a few challenges as the building works continue, and some changes to routines, but we have managed fairly successfully in dealing with those challenges and continued to offer and operate an interesting and constructive program of instruction. I hope everyone has a great break in whatever form that takes, or wherever it takes you and look forward to seeing everyone again on the first day of Term 4 – Monday, October 2.

Kind regards,

Bill Kersing

Principal

SWPBS Pyjama Day Reward Congratulations to all our students for working together to achieve their second small school reward for demonstrating positive behaviours that reflect our school values.

Lots of fun was had across the school today as we relaxed in our choice of sleeping attire.

The great news is the students have almost achieved their third and final honeypot meaning we will be celebrating with a major school reward early in term 4.

I wonder what that may be?

Acknowledging the students with a SWPBS Certificate each time they complete their four values cards has become a popular assembly event and it is so wonderful to see many families attending to share this celebration with their child. This is also the case with the presentation of our values linked Pupil of the Week awards.

R U OK? Day 2023 is Thursday 14 September and is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.

R U OK? Day is for everyone. At Viewbank we will be supporting our friends, classmates and colleagues by asking R U OK?.

Have a fantastic holiday, stay safe and see you in term 4.

Term 3 Recap It certainly has been a busy term. 3-Way Conferences started the term and then a steady stream of events that have included: Wanyara Paint and Dance, STOMP weekly lessons and concerts, Book Parade and Author Visit, Year 6 Interschool Sport, Year 5 Family Life sessions, Foundation to Year 2 Cross Country, Excursions to Edendale Farm (Foundation), Parliament House and The Shrine (Year 6). Other excursions to the Koorie Heritage trust and ACMI (Year 4). We have had students participate at high level Athletics and Cross Country. Not to mention upheaving most of the school as the building project intensified.

Term 4 is always busy and this will begin in Week 1 with a whole school Science Show on Tuesday 3rd October and then Year 5 Camp from Wednesday 4th October to Friday 6th October.

I hope everyone has a great September break.

Go Pies!

Patrick
