April

Digital Media

Year 1 students have spent the year building a strong foundation in photography while starting to find their own creative style. They’ve worked with a variety of techniques, including the inverse square law, learning how lighting affects shadows and the overall look of an image. They’ve also been working on putting together their professional portfolios, selecting pieces that show their progress throughout the year. As we approach the end of the year, they are beginning to prepare for Level 2 with more confidence in their skills. Year 2 students have made great progress this month, especially with completing their PDSA cycles and transitioning into daily TitanTV production. During the testing window from the 13th through the 28th, they stayed consistent and continued producing daily videos. They’ve also continued developing their broadcasting and video editing skills, becoming more efficient and confident in their roles. By the end of the month, students will have completed their Production Assistant and Video Editing certifications. Year 3 Digital Media/Academy students are wrapping up the year by focusing on their final portfolios and completing major projects, including their Kincaid productions and Edit Mentors work. They have also taken on a leadership role in producing daily TitanTV broadcasts during the block schedule, helping keep productions running smoothly. Their work reflects the experience and skills they’ve built over time, and they’ve done a great job supporting the program as a whole while preparing for what comes next!

Sports Medicine

In Sports Medicine 1, students have completed their study of major body systems and the essential roles they play in maintaining overall health. They are now transitioning into a new unit on environmental considerations, where they will explore how external factors such as heat, cold, and weather conditions impact the body during physical activity. Students will also learn preventative strategies and safety precautions to reduce the risk of environmental-related injuries during athletic participation. In Sports Medicine 2, students have recently completed an in-depth unit on the shoulder joint, including taping, bracing, and rehabilitation techniques. This month, they are working toward earning their CPR and First Aid certification through the American Heart Association. This includes a combination of instructional learning and hands-on skill practice such as chest compressions, rescue breathing, and emergency response scenarios.

Entrepreneurship

Year 1 classes are working on their career development lessons of resumes, cover letters, interviewing, jobs searches and more.  Once we finish these we will be back to our business lessons learning about all business departments, their functions and the importance of each in running a successful business. Year 2 classes are finishing their laser engraving projects and will be starting & working on their pre-apprenticeship projects for the next few weeks.  These will take us into our product development lessons at the end of the month.

Technical Theater

In April, the TT2 students are working on creating props from found objects--building pieces out of cardboard, hot glue, latex, pipe cleaners--whatever they can find to create a replica of something that reads from 20 feet away on stage! The TT1 students are focused on hammering out emotional cues from sound and lighting--choosing music that fits an emotion, and researching lighting designs that fit a mood!

Construction

The construction students along with our CTSO are planning a Trades Day event Saturday May 9th. Where they will be inviting the local community and all of the schools in the district to attend. The Trades Day is sponsored by McCarthy Construction Company, as well as Carpenters Local 951. It is one month away and we look forward to seeing everyone there!

Student Spotlights

We are incredibly proud to recognize Analisa Sanchez, Genesis Mayorga, Angela Higuera, and Araceli Lima for their outstanding accomplishment of completing the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program through Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) while simultaneously managing their full high school course load. This achievement reflects an exceptional level of dedication, time management, and perseverance, as the program itself is both academically and physically demanding. Throughout the MSJC CNA program, these students engaged in rigorous coursework and hands-on clinical training designed to prepare them for real-world healthcare settings. They developed foundational knowledge in patient care, including vital signs assessment, infection control procedures, proper hygiene and grooming techniques, patient mobility and transfer skills, and effective communication with patients and healthcare teams. In addition, they learned critical safety protocols such as preventing the spread of disease, maintaining sterile environments, and responding appropriately in emergency situations. A significant component of their training involved clinical hours in healthcare facilities, where they applied their knowledge by assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, feeding, and repositioning, all while demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and respect. They also gained experience documenting patient information accurately and understanding the ethical and legal responsibilities of working in the healthcare field. Their accomplishment is a major milestone not only for themselves but for our Sports Medicine program as well. They have set a high standard for future students and serve as an inspiration for what is possible through hard work and commitment. We could not be more proud of Angela, Genesis, Analisa, and Araceli for their determination, professionalism, and success in completing such a challenging and rewarding program.

Darby Delong

Darby has been a pleasure to have in class this year. She consistently demonstrates excellent leadership skills and sets a positive example for her peers. Darby is always willing to lend a helping hand and support others when they need it, which contributes to a welcoming and collaborative classroom environment. Throughout the school year, she has shown dedication and determination in developing her portfolio and strengthening her photography skills. Her growth and commitment to improving her craft have been impressive to see.

Sports Medicine

Audrina Dovales

Audrina as an upperclassman, Audrina has consistently demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and a genuine commitment to the success of those around her. She regularly takes initiative to support her classmates, offering guidance and encouragement while helping maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Beyond the classroom, she has embraced additional responsibilities within the program, showing maturity and a strong work ethic. Audrina truly exemplifies what it means to be a student leader, and her impact on the program has been both meaningful and lasting.

Entrepreneurship

Tatiana Avila, Audrey Reynosa Castillo, Aleshka Villa Varela, and Savana Flores

These young lady's are exceptional students, always helpful and are active participants in class.  They all have the entrepreneurial spirit and drive, as several have businesses of their own already.  I'm nominating them due to their efforts in the class, enthusiasm and overall drive.  Recently they had an idea to create a CTE Entrepreneurship / Business class Instagram account.  After speaking with Mr. Ali's team, they took the lead, ran with it and had it up & running in no time.  They were extremely excited and put a lot of work into getting the account working.  They are in the process of planning out and filming future posts.  Their enthusiasm for this project is amazing!

Technical Theater

Miguel Romero Olvera

Miguel is one of my standouts and one of my go-tos in terms of students who I can depend upon to get things done in the shop and beyond. He has been instrumental in helping Ms. Reichl (alongside Mars Torres Valdez) with the Ramona Pageant--a local area event that has been playing for decades on the "stage" at the Ramona Hillside Amphitheatre. Miguel has had several offers from amazing universities, and while he'd be missed here, he will certainly be onto great things (engineering!) in the future!

Natalie Hernandez

Senior Natalie Hernandez is putting effort into making our Trades Day a success. She hopes that the first one goes well and leads to making this an annual event for the school and district. Natalie is the current Safety Person for the design build team and the construction class. Natalie is working with the Carpenters union, and McCarthy Construction and our CTSO to set up safety for the Trades Day.
