HamWeg Galaxy ONLINE ENCYCLOPEDIA - The Oyun Codex
In the 2nd century the island nation of Atlantis was home to two of the ancient wonders of the world; the Cathedral of Dwr Rhew, a shrine to Aquiris the Water Elemental and the Hermesseum a colossal trading post visited by many nations from across the ancient world. The Cathedral of Dwr Rhew was home to one hundred and fifty Atlantean Priests fluent in the ancient spellcasting language of Oyun. Around the year 100 a powerful priest, Soarok painted two canvases cataloging the magical Rune symbols of Oyun and translating an Oyun proverb into the languages discovered at the Hermesseum (Latin, Mandarin, Bangallian and English).
As the fame and glory of the Cathedral of Dwr Rhew reached Poseidon, he became madly jealous of Aquiris and her beautiful shrine. Poseidon besieged Atlantis with a thousand earthquakes and typhoons until it sank to the bottom of the Aegean Sea. What few Atlantean artifacts survived the crashing waves and crumbling earth of Poseidon’s wrath quickly scattered across the globe.
Seven centuries after the sinking of Atlantis Matthias the Noble, the Chancellor of the College of Magic was determined to locate any surviving Atlantean artifacts for the College’s prestigious Magical Library and Historical Society. After fifty years of searching and finding smaller treasures, Matthias had a momentous discovery when he unearthed Soarok’s two painted canvases lost in a museum's archive in Turkey.
After only minutes of study Matthias understood the depth of his monumental discovery, and was in awe of the powerful elemental magic that he could see pulsing through-out the paint and canvas.
Matthias christened the two canvases The Oyun Codex as they can be used to decipher the magical language and Runes of Oyun.
Prior to the discovery of The Oyun Codex the ancient Oyun language and Runes had not been widely utilized by humanity since the fall of Camelot and the disappearance of Merlin the Sorcerer. Using The Oyun Codex Matthias expands the magical possibilities in his student's journey to harness their gifts for the betterment of humanity.
