Welcome Back to School!

What a fabulous start to our Summer Term. The sun has been shining, and I’m sure all the children have grown over the Easter holidays! We were especially excited to welcome Year 4 back to Grange wearing their leavers’ hoodies – they look fantastic and wore them with great pride. A huge thank you to our PTFA, who very kindly subsidised the cost of the hoodies to support our children and families. The Summer Term is always a busy one, packed full of exciting events including school trips, Grange Has Talent, Physical Week, Sports Days, leavers’ events, the Reception picnic, Nursery graduation, transition to new classes and middle school… and lots, lots more! Please make sure you take some time to look carefully at the list of diary dates at the bottom of this newsletter and add them to your calendar. Many of these dates were published earlier in the academic year, but there are also some new ones to note.

Maths Stay and Play

Come and join your child in their classroom to play maths games, solve puzzles and, most importantly, have some fun together! Dates and times are as follows:

  • Year 2: Tuesday 12th May at 2.30pm
  • Year 1: Wednesday 13th May at 2.30pm
  • Nursery: Wednesday 13th May at 9.00am
  • Year 3: Thursday 14th May at 2.30pm
  • Reception: Friday 15th May at 2.30pm

Please sign up for the Maths Stay and Play using the link that we send you next week. The closing date to book on is 7th May. After this time, you will no longer be able to attend. This gives our staff time to plan and resource the session according to how many adults are attending. We look forward to welcoming you into school.

Year 4

Year 4 parents and carers have already joined us in school to take part in times‑table games and activities with their children. Thank you for your continued support with this. Please keep practising times tables at home and encourage your child to regularly use TTRS (Times Table Rock Stars), as their Multiplication Check will take place in June and we want every child to feel confident and successful. This half term, Year 4 would love to welcome parents and carers into school to take part in some spelling games. During the session, we will explain how Spelling Shed works and introduce you to some fun and engaging spelling activities that you can also try at home. Please remember to book in using the link that we send you next week. The closing date to book on is 7th May. After this time, you will no longer be able to attend. This gives our staff time to plan and resource the session according to how many adults are attending. We look forward to welcoming you into school.

OPAL Play and Stay

Come along on Wednesday 29th April (next week) to join us for our OPAL Play and Stay afternoon. There will be so many exciting opportunities to explore and enjoy together! You might choose to:

  • Build a den using loose parts
  • Create beautiful sounds on our Music Wall
  • Explore the Water Area or our Forest
  • Enjoy a ride in one of our wheelchairs
  • Build a sandcastle in the sandpit
  • Sing and dance
  • French skipping…..

There really is so much to do, with lots of adventures waiting for you and your child. The session will start at 2.15pm. We kindly ask Nursery parents to arrive at 2.10pm, as Mrs Crow will speak to you for five minutes before you join in the fun with your child. Please note the following important information:

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to allow photographs or videos to be taken during the session, as we do not have consent from all parents and carers.
  • Siblings are not able to attend this event as it would not be safe for them to do so. Any adults arriving with another child will be unable to enter the site.

We have recently moved some picnic tables onto the Nursery field, and the children are very keen to play tabletop games such as Jenga, draughts, Snakes and Ladders, Frustration and Connect 4. If you have any of these games at home that you no longer use, we would be very grateful for any donations. Thank you for your continued support.

Goodbye and Welcome

We would like to say a fond goodbye to Miss Black, who has been a student teacher in Juniper Class over the past few months. She has been a brilliant addition to our teaching team and has already been snapped up by a local school, where she will begin teaching from September. We would like to thank Miss Black for all her hard work, enthusiasm and her permanently happy smile. We wish her every success in her future career. It is also time to say hello and welcome to two new student teachers, Miss Moorhead and Miss Gargett. Miss Gargett will be teaching in Cherry Class and Miss Moorhead will be teaching in Hawthorn Class. Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Stubbs will be their mentors and will support them as they plan and deliver lessons. Both students already know the children well, as they have spent several weeks observing lessons and teaching some lessons during their preparation time. We are delighted to have them join our team.

A Message From Mrs Stubbs about Reading

2026 is our Year of Reading, and we’re really excited about all the opportunities this will bring for our pupils. We are often asked by parents, carers, grandparents, and friends of the school how they can support what we do, and we’re very grateful for this kindness. We would love to build on our reading scheme by adding more high-quality, engaging books for the children to enjoy and learn from. If you would like to, and are able to make a donation, please follow the link below. Anything from 50p would make a real difference and would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Half‑Term Topic Overviews and KIRFs

We know how important it is for you to be kept well informed about what your child is learning in school. Today, we will be sending home our usual half‑term topic overviews along with the Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs) for maths. Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping your child practise these facts and for reading with them regularly; it really does make a huge difference.
