The Blast City Manager Dennis' Weekly Update | January 29, 2025

Southern California Fire Mutual Aid in Full Effect

As mentioned in the 1/15 Blast, North County Fire Authority sent 18 firefighters and Chief officers to the Southern California Fires which all returned as of yesterday, 1/27 (all personnel were rotated at 14 days and replaced with new personnel). NCFA personnel were assigned to the Palisades Incident in LA and reassigned to the Border 2 Incident in San Diego on Friday when that fire erupted last Thursday, 1/23.

Team 2801A before leaving San Diego yesterday.
Last Friday's visit to Station 81 to welcome back Capt. Briscoe and Kai after 14 days on the Palisades Fire. To keep the station fully staffed while the two of them plus TJ were away, others like Firefighter Paramedic Marco were filling in extra shifts.

See footage from Capt. Briscoe which he shared with our Communications Team:

I am personally ever grateful for the firefighting efforts that have been happening around the clock since January 7th in Southern California. If you have a chance to stop by the station or North County Fire Authority's administrative offices at 25B Park Place to thank them yourself, please do. They truly deserve it.

CERT Class Recap & Next Emergency Preparedness Meeting, 2/25

Thank you to the 19 individuals who spent a large portion of their Saturday with North County Fire Authority Safety Inspector Clyde Preston at City Hall in the first of 4 CERT Classes being offered through NCFA.

And for those that can't commit to 5 hours on a Saturday, there's the next Emergency Preparedness Meeting you could hop on via Zoom, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 25th starting at 6 PM.

Reminder: Quarry DEIR Comments Available on City's Website

Public comments received during the public review period for the Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) for the proposed Guadalupe Quarry Redevelopment Project are available to view on the City's website at brisbaneca.org/quarry. The public review period for the Draft EIR began on October 7, 2024, and closed on Monday, January 6, 2025.

The next step of the environmental review process is for the City to evaluate comments received on environmental issues and prepare a Final EIR that responds to those comments. The Final EIR will be considered by the City in making the decision to certify the EIR and whether to approve or deny the Project.

Hard Copy of Blasts in the Library, Sunrise Room & City Hall | Library Feb. Calendar

A couple weeks ago we had representatives from the Center for Age-Friendly Excellence present highlights from the City of Brisbane's Age-Friendly Action Plan to the City Council. In an effort to encourage seniors to participate in local government conversations and increase outreach to the senior community in areas where they gather, hard copies of the Blast can now be found at the Sunrise Room, Brisbane Library, and in the main lobby of City Hall.

A copy of the 1/24 Baby Blast was taken up last Friday to the Sunrise Room and Library.

Speaking of the Library, here is their February calendar, which is also housed on the City's website, at brisbaneca.org/library:
