This May, our fabulous governors approached our school family to come together for a community day. On the 6th June, over 20 families and a group of staff came together to look after our school grounds.
Forest School Planters
We had a group of dads working together to rebuild three planters in our forest school area. Their children helped to measure and then held the wood as the circular saw was used (full supervision by own parent was had at all times).
The new planters look amazing and the forest school team are looking forward to adding hay bales to grow crops etc soon.
Planters and Vegetable Planters
Lots of people helped us to weed our planters situated around school. The donations of seeds and bedding plants were very gratefully received - thank you.
Our Mud Kitchen
Our mud kitchen was given a shade sail providing a little shelter from the elements. It was then thoroughly cleaned and transformed with a group of dads taking it on as a challenge to level it out and refresh the entire area. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Refreshing Our Yard
The Next Community Day
Watch this space for the next community day which we hope to host in the autumn term. We would love you to join us and the whole family is welcome to come along. As the pictures show - we all took part from the age of 2 to 21 (wink).
It was a feel good day full of smiles, team work, comradery and purpose. Everyone came together for our school and our children, and we all went home feeling satisfied and accomplished!
Please do sign up when the next time and date is revealed.
And Finally A Thank You (we really can't say this enough)
Thank you to everyone who gave up an hour of their time to those who stayed the whole day. Thank you for coming along and entering into our list of jobs with enthusiasm and participation. The adults were all very well behaved but a special shout out must go to the children who were simply PHENOMENAL. They joined in, worked as a team, played together, kept themselves safe, asked for jobs and looked after one and another. They were all superstars and should be very proud of themselves and all their hard work (just like the adults).
