Westonka High School Construction Updates

About the Project

  • Construction at Westonka High School began in April 2025 and is scheduled to be complete in fall 2026. This transformative project will redesign nearly the entire school, optimizing spaces to better meet the needs of today’s students.
  • Interior upgrades will revitalize the 1971 building, incorporating thoughtful design improvements and modern finishes throughout.
  • The scope includes four additions to the building: expanded classrooms, a redesigned student services and administration area, a new weight room/fitness facility, and an expanded cafeteria. The expanded classroom space will allow for right-sizing undersized classrooms and will accommodate new vocational programming. The new fitness area will double as a storm shelter, enhancing safety for students, staff and visitors.
  • The project also includes a comprehensive overhaul of the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including the installation of a new mechanical mezzanine.
  • Exterior work includes the demolition of the existing tennis courts to expand the parking lot, reconfiguring traffic flow for improved safety and efficiency, as well as utility upgrades and pavement work. The high school stadium project is currently in the design phase, with construction expected to begin in spring 2026.
