Physical Week
a message from Mr Mac
It's been Physical Week here at Grange First School with loads of special guests helping us achieve our superhero powers of creativity, adversity, speed and calmness. On Tuesday, we had, Gladiator winning contestant, Joe Fishburn putting us through our paces and Beth Loughran dancing with our nursery children. On Wednesday, we worked with Kristy and Saskia who showed us how to listen to our bodies and use them to help us achieve our goals. On Thursday, we worked with Mr Holden who helped us unlock our creative side by making our own Gaelic Football plays and the Haka. On Friday, Gavin from the PE Service gave the nursery children an experience of lots of different types of sports and pushing ourselves.
After his visit this week, Joe Fishburn - who in 2025 won BBC Gladiators and has a background as a Team GB gymnast -wanted to express how amazing our children were during his visit. We know quite a few of our children already attend Joe's gymnastics club at Sports Club Newcastle, which runs at The Royal Grammar School and Newcastle High School for Girls in Jesmond. The club will be running a free trial session for our children on the 14th of June. Simply follow the link and book a free trial if you are interested in getting your child started in gymnastics, whether they are a complete beginner or have experience! I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Mr Mac for organising all the events this week- it has been so much fun! I would also like to thank Mrs Crow, Mrs Stubbs and all the staff, parents and children that took part in our daily Wake and Shake on the school yard each morning!
Rest up over the weekend; it's been a busy first week and we need to be ready for our Sports Days and another special guest next week!
