Navigating to a Self-Directed Learning Course

What is Self-Directed Learning?

Infor Education’s Self-Directed Learning is a flexible learning option where, instead of attending a live training class, you can learn at your pace, on your schedule, and from the comfort of your very own office desk or home.

Components of a Self-Directed Learning (SDL)

  1. Training Workbook
  2. Course Information
  3. Lab on Demand and/or Simulation Library
  4. Discussion Board

Training Workbook

Infor U training workbook/guide contains both conceptual information to introduce topics, and step-by-step procedural instructions for practical application of those concepts. Conceptual information is included within each lesson, while the corresponding step-by-step procedural instructions are included in the Exercises and demos section at the end of the guide.

The workbook is also being used to support the Instructor-Led Training, and eLearning/Training Guide types of learning delivery in Infor U Campus.

This may be open side-by-side while the learner is doing the hands-on exercises.

Course Information

This page provides the course description/agenda, course duration and other required course if there's any. It also show the detailed learning objectives, including lesson-level learning objectives and supporting objectives.

Lab on Demand and/or Simulation Library

The Self-Directed Learning courses are uniquely designed from one to another. The Lab on Demand and Simulation Library/Demonstrations are sometimes optional depending on the course’s need for the topic. Some do not have a Lab, only the Simulation Library/Demonstrations or vice versa or it has both.

In the Lab on Demand, the learner may access the Training Desktop to experience the hands-on exercises from the workbook in a live Training Environment (TE). Individual learners have access to the Lab that is equal to its course duration. It has 30 days validity from the date of course registration and consumable hours. A user should shut down the TE during the idle period to avoid unnecessary time deductions. Whichever comes first, either the learner consumes the allocated time or they reach the 30 days, it will always expire even if there are remaining hours. The Lab has a $ 100 fee per user and per course access. Click the button below to know more.

The Simulation Library provides demo videos of certain topics, or a learner may also practice hands-on exercises on each of the indicated topics on the title. The exercises are preprogrammed materials that will give the learner step-by-step instructions for accomplishing a task. These materials are housed in learning library servers (UAP) that require learners to input their credentials. Click on the button below to learn more.

Discussion Board

The Discussion Board also known as Social Collaboration from the previous LMS. It's an instructor-monitored online community that is a powerful tool for learners seeking to collaborate and ask questions in a supportive and dynamic virtual environment. These communities are designed to connect learners with instructors and peers, creating a space where everyone can contribute to the conversation and help each other learn. The exchange of ideas often results in higher quality work than if you work alone and facilitates peer-to-peer learning not just learning from the instructor. It provides a safe and comfortable space to facilitate discussion.
