Cancer Run

If you have registered to do the Children's Cancer Run with us this year on 17th May, our start time is 11:40. We will be meeting under the Grange banner in Car Park A as close to the G sign as we can get at 11:15.  If you haven't signed up yet, there is plenty of time and you can sign up here:- https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/ChildrensCancerRun2026 Any questions feel free to send an email to peter.macdermott@grangefirst.co.ukWe look forward to seeing you there!

School Survey

It’s that time of year again when we ask for your views on what you think we do well at Grange and what you feel we could do even better. Your feedback is incredibly important to us and helps shape our plans for the year ahead. Last year, we received responses representing 174 of our children, which was an amazing response; thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. Please click on the link below to access a Microsoft Form, which will take around 5 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until May half term (in three weeks’ time). We really value your feedback. Next half term, I will share a general summary of the responses we receive, along with any actions we plan to take as a result of your comments. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey. Parent/Carer Grange First School  Survey Summer Term 2026 – Fill in form

Happy 100th Birthday!

This week in assembly, we have been learning about Sir David Attenborough and exploring why he is such a well‑known and inspiring figure. From a very young age, Sir David developed a love of wildlife, and his programs continue to inspire people of all ages to learn about and protect our natural world. To celebrate his 100th birthday, we would love our whole Grange community to get involved in two special activities.

📸 Grange Wildlife Photography Exhibition

We are inviting everyone in our community (children, staff, parents, carers, grandparents and governors) to take part in our wildlife photography exhibition.

  • Please take a photo of any wildlife you spot during the month of May (this could be an animal, bird, insect or plant).
  • Email your photo to clare.clougher@grangefirst.co.uk so that it can be printed and displayed in school.
  • Please include the name of the animal or plant in your email, as I don’t claim to be an expert!

I’ve started our exhibition with my own photo of a goldfinch I spotted in my garden this week, and I can’t wait to see what wildlife you discover.

🎨 Pebble Painting

We are also celebrating Sir David’s birthday by painting pebbles. Our aim is to create a long “snake” of pebbles around the top of the driveway near our Treehouse.

  • Find a pebble and paint a picture of an animal or plant on it.
  • Please remember to write your name on the back, so pebble artwork can be returned at the end of the summer term.

Thank you for helping us celebrate nature, creativity and curiosity just as Sir David Attenborough has encouraged us to do for so many years.

Golden Welly Winners

. Congratulations to our Golden Welly Winners who have won an extra playtime for their classmates this week.

Year 1 - Shabbat

Year 1 have been learning about Shabbat, a special weekly tradition celebrated by Jewish families. Shabbat begins every Friday evening and is a time for families to come together. Families say prayers, enjoy a special meal, switch off technology and take a break from work and homework. Shabbat is all about spending time together, resting and having fun as a family. They also learnt about some of the special traditions that take place during Shabbat, including drinking wine (or grape juice), lighting candles and eating challah bread. Our Year 1 children loved having the opportunity to experience this and really enjoyed trying the foods themselves.

Former Pupils- Nominated for a Film Award

We are incredibly proud to share that two of our former pupils, now aged 9 and 11, have made a fantastic short film which has been shortlisted for an Audience Choice Award at the Into Film Awards. Once you’ve watched their film, you can support them by voting for it – simply like and share the film on the Into Film Facebook or Instagram page. Every like and share counts, so thank you for helping to cheer on our talented ex‑pupils!
