Parent Survey
It's that time of year again where we ask you to spend a few minutes completing our parent/carer survey. We value your thoughts and opinions, and your feedback helps us understand what we’re doing well and how we can continue to improve Grange for your child. The survey will be open until Friday 4th July, and all responses will be treated confidentially. Thank you for your continued support.
Treehouse Garden
We are busy improving our Treehouse garden. Val went shopping for some vegetable plants (carrots, corn on the cob and leeks) and some sensory plants (lavender, mint, curry plant and rosemary). She had a team of helpers from KS2 carrying plants from her car, weeding and planting. There is still a lot of work to be done before our grand opening in July, but we’re getting there!
Creative Children
In assemblies this week we explored ‘creativity’. We decided that we all have creativity and that it’s all about using our imagination and coming up with our own ideas. We discussed what we could do with a stick and a welly boot. The children were literally bursting with creative ideas! A broomstick, a sceptre, a fishing rod, a magic wishing boot, a boot that can make you fly, a plant pot….
I have challenged the children to do something creative this week. They could use their creativity when they solve a maths problem, investigate a question in science or history, make up a story, build a den, construct a model, make up a new game outside. There are endless opportunities to be creative!
Two children shared their creative artefacts in assembly. Aila and River have made these artefacts at home and we were all very impressed.
PTFA Summer Fair
Our summer fair last weekend was absolutely brilliant! Thank you for all of your donations and to everyone who helped set up and ran the stalls. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came and supported us on the day. We would love to hear your feedback: what did you enjoy the most?
We raised over £2600 in profit on the day.
Lots of local businesses donated wonderful prizes for our raffle at the summer fair, take a look at the list and see who supported us: Northumberland Zoo, Pizza Dough Co. Rise Reformer Pilates, Gosforth Bike Works, Babucho, Pure Knead, Fun Little Foodies, Little Locks, Nandos, Etto, Jesmond Beauty Clinic, New Greek, Sports Club Newcastle, Hot Shout Hounds, The Nails Lounge, Falcons Nest, Method Training, Popolo Ceramico, Grow & Play, Julies Flowers, Helen Wheatley Art, BabyGrey, Exit Newcastle, Falcon’s Nest
We have one more fundraiser planned before the summer holidays so start collecting your spare change for our Money Snake Challenge. In July, we will ask children to bring in copper and silver coins (up to and including 20p but nothing higher) and we're challenging each class to make a money snake. There will be a prize for the class who make the longest snake so look down the back of the sofa and check your coat pockets for any loose change.
Castle Life
As part of Year 1s history topic, they have been learning about what life was like inside a medieval castle. they have learnt about the different jobs people had and lots of children decided they'd like to be a knight! On Wednesday afternoon, they carried out some knight training with archery. The children were very resilient and some even managed to hit the target first time around!
