The Hidden Lives of Lorry Drivers in the UK A Photo Exhibition

The Hidden Lives of Lorry Drivers in the UK is an online photo exhibition showcasing the working lives of HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicles) drivers. These photos - taken by drivers themselves during the course of their working day (or night) - and their accompanying descriptions, offer a glimpse into the lesser-known experiences, moments and spaces inhabited by truck drivers in the UK. Through this exhibition, we aim to highlight the essential work provided by HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) drivers and encourage a greater understanding and appreciation of their critical role in supporting everyday life and the wider economy.

This exhibition is curated from a photo competition organised by the Trucking Lives project. The competition invited former and current HGV drivers in the UK to send in photo entries that made visible some less-known aspects of their work and lives. Scroll through the competition themes below and uncover a gallery of photo entries, including the winning entry, from each of the categories.
