My Views of China from a Poltical Perspective
China, as one of the most powerful countries in the world, is a nation we should all strive to understand better. During my time there, I paid close attention to how the country is governed and how its political system influences its society, culture, and businesses. As a political science major, I was particularly interested in observing how a self-described “communist” country operates in practice. Learning about China’s dynastic history was especially insightful these dynasties functioned as autocratic monarchies, where emperors held absolute power. Today, China identifies as a Communist state and is lead by the Communist Party of China, with its current general secretary being Xi Jinping However, what I observed revealed a more complex and hybrid system that blends elements of state control with market-driven practices.
