URBAN CULTURE FACTORY SPRING 2024 - UNDERGRADUATE 2ND YEAR STUDIO - INSTRUCTOR: CLAY KININGHAM

STUDIO OVERVIEW

In this sophomore-level studio, students were tasked with designing an urban culture factory to be located in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward, surrounding Ponce City Market and the Beltline. Students began the semester by examining existing precedents of libraries, museums, and other centers of culture; after their analysis, they created assemblage designs based on their research of the given precedents.

Students then began the creation of their communal spaces within their projects: they proposed several different gathering spaces for their schemes, represented in AI renderings with Midjourney, physical models and drawings.

The project culminated in the full development of the students' urban culture factory, incorporating their communal spaces into a fully-developed project.
